I'll wait til the movie with my final judgement. Usually those super hero outfits look better in action than on those promotional stills.

Then again, looking at this... i have to wonder, "Why so cheeky breeky?"

All I can say to WN is "why so serious?".

No really that what point into my mind when I saw that image.

Honestly, I think it works.

Hear me out.

He's supposed to be unhinged, right? But what's so "unhinged" about wearing a snappy suit and looking dapper as heck? But if you saw somebody dressed like this in public, you'd assume he was too unbalanced to be able to dress properly. That he genuinely didn't understand why people are looking weirdly at him.

I love the Joker, but let's face it, most of the time his "mental illness" amounts to being evil and joking a lot. This guy looks genuinely unwell.
Yeah, I can buy this Joker design actually. It's the Harley design that bothers me for various reasons. But this seems pretty cool and I'd say your analysis why that is is accurate enough.

It looks about like what I expected out of "Suicide Squad". Everything about that movie looks completely awful.

I'm not really worried about his outfit so much as this; Is he funny?

That's kind of the main selling point of the character for me. No matter what flavor of insanity he's wearing as a hat one day or the next, whether he's the writer's mouthpiece for a particular societal/universal ill or just welding fire hyrdrants shut with a technicolor blowtorch before setting the flower shops on fire because he'd like to smell more chocolate around town on Valentine's day, the thing that makes the guy fun is that he generally remembers how to have fun.

Hilarious running commentary on all the comic book antics that the majority of the cast are taking very seriously is often a joy to behold, so as long as the Clown Pimp of Crime over there pulls that much off, I don't care if he strolls in with something torn straight from Lady Gaga while wearing Stunna shades as a belt buckle.

Wait I have a theory.

What if this guy isn't ACTUALLY the joker in movie canon?

Hear me out; Joker's dies/his death/disappearance stays in the original canon, leaves behind a ton of fans. Random kid decides he wants to play joker. Dresses up, gets the suit and everything. Acts sort of like the joker, but in a much more semi-human manner - think of how fangirls imagine they'll always be 'the one' for that one attractive serial killer character like Danny from AHS or Eddie Gluskin from Outlast.

Movie ends with him trying to back out of the whole thing nervously (Think a guy trying to act like more of a badass then he is an getting in waaaay over his head), only to end up falling into that infamous vat of chemicals that made the 90s animated joker + the crooked smile. His desperation to be noticed and loved leading to his own destruction, which leads back into him being noticed and loved by rapid fans.

Theses comments are quite good proof that comic book fans don't tend to like when someone changes something up from their favorite things. I actually want to commend DC for making such a bold design choice. Whether it's intentional or not we'll see in time, but right now this has me actually intrigued. Remember how everyone complains how drab and dreary all the DC trailers and movies have been so far? Well here's a full cover of the joker bursting with color, and no one notices. Remember how people reacted to initial photos of Ledger as the Joker? Well see how that turned out! Remember how people hated on Craig being Bond because he had blonde hair? REMEMBER HOW THAT TURNED OUT???

I can honestly say that I hate this culture of judging movies on the basis of teaser trailers, set photos, casting choices and promo images. That's the mentality of a child.

Wow, it looks like the early/mid 90's threw up all over the place. At least you can see color though, so there's that.

Personally I think they accomplished this simply by having him shave off his eyebrows. Everything else is just extraneous fluff. :p

It's...bad...

Seriously, the Joker has to dress as a Joker but this is just 'edgy delinquency' level and not Crazed and Extremely dangerous supercriminal level.

My favorite Joker design so far has been the one from the Arkham series, mainly because he does look like a joker but we instantly know that he is dangerous from his inhuman looks alone:

A larger than life super criminal made right.

If we take games out of the picture then the Dark Knight joker sweeps the field and this quote explains why:

The Dark Knight joker had a quality that no other Joker ever had. He was human in his madness and as such far scarier, which is why he carried that movie at all times. The problem with his design is that he doesn't instantly register as extremely dangerous but that highlights the glory of the character as the story develops.

Not exactly a fan, but I also understand how this new movie is supposed to be a really different kind of take on a few DC characters/villains. If this were part of an actual Batman reboot then I might be a little annoyed.

Remember the mass James Bond hate from stills of Daniel Craig in Casino Royale?

Did people see this back in the day and think...
"Gothem City is screwed. Batman has no chance against that menace!"

This is just yet another vision of the character. It should be clear by now that his actual appearance isn't all that important. I think he looks silly but then again he's supposed to.
