It seems like a pain in the ass to do properly, and when it's not done properly it looks pretty tacky. Even if it's a good dye job, not everyone can pull off the look. It strikes me as a bit shallow personally, but that might just be my bitterness coming across since I know I don't have the looks to pull it off.

I wouldn't dye my own, due to being in the military, and crazy colours... hmmm I don't know! It can be done well, but you tend to find with crazy coloured hair (talking about the bright reds, blues, pinks, greens, oranges etc) comes crazy piercings, and feirce attitudes that I am ever-so less keen on!

Oh my god, where did you get that hair dye?
I want it.
I've mainly had bright red hair, but this is the funkiest my hair has been >
Oh, and in case my hair doesn't answer the question for me, I'm all for wacky hair colours.
Anything to spice up the variety of life a bit more.

I don't mind people dying their hair, I do it.. not because I dislike my natural colour, but because I like the reddish purple colour it is. I want to dye it blue at some point, but I'd probably have to get that done at a salon.

Nice hair, my hair is currently Pink

It's not permanent so it's slowly going, thinking of Green and Blue next before I finish for now and go to some form or Brown

Personally, I think on guys it looks stupid, and on girls it looks stupid.

Come to think of it, Anime characters (not anime specifically, just japanese-esque art-style in general)... you know, the guys with the swords twice the length of their body and big flapping coats and all that excessive getup... Can anyone imagine them actually taking the time to dye their hair for hours, getting it the right colour in the right places, and having to re-do it every so often to avoid regrowth...or just any sort of hair-care in general? with hair that extravagant, they'd have to be continuously vigilant about taking care of it properly...

Ooh, little off topic rant there. Sorry. Anyway, I don't like 'funky' coloured hair.

:)

Unless you're a professional rock musician (or similar) it instantly makes me think you're a flippant kid or a misanthrope.
When I was a flippant kid I had my (blonde) hair dyed with black and pink stripes and eventually a 7 inch mohawk dyed purple and eventually bright red and black (college colors)... so that could be why.

Short hair + dye + XX chromosones = instant attractiveness. Don't know why, I just like that 'rebel' look. Shame most people I know who have hair like that are dramatic cunts.

I have no problem with it. I dye my hair Burgandy(which for those who don't know can be compared to a garnet stone. Certain lights will make it turn certain colours. Red/Brown/Black and my hair will occasionally turn purple which the stone won't). I enjoy the colour and it tends to look very natural on me. Even though I'm naturally a blonde.....

For those who want photos of the colour:

Your color is very similar to mine!
I don't have a pic yet, but maybe i can take one later...

I use my red hair dye on almost virgin dark brown Asian hair, so it looks burgundy than bright red unless you stick me under bright sun light.

After thinking about this topic for a while after my last post,
I decided that blue/green hues are the funky colors,
and red/orange is actually not so funky.

I can usually get away with my red hair because it just looks like another shade of brown.
Of course if i was invited to a formal occasion I would through on my wig,
but that just being considerate to people around me, not because I am ashamed of it.

I really think the whole funky hair color thing depends on the person wearing it.
For some people its tacky, for others its the coolest fashion statement.
Its a combination of your clothes style, make up, and attitude.
Sometimes its tacky because you are too young and it looks like you are trying too hard.
Other times its because you are too old...

Luckily for me, I've been able to get away with it so far

See now you are gorgeous. That hair totally suits you. Very nice die job.

I think however that's very different than the obscenely unnatural colour the OP is sporting. Your colour makes you look good. His colour makes him look like...well...lets just say most people will only see the hair.
thanks *blushes* I disagree but that's my own personal issues. Surprisingly enough, a lot of people only see the colour with me. Or the piercings. And some see the clothing and dismiss me off that but as it stands I guess all of it put together makes me an unapproachable person? meh. i like being alone anyway

I think its fine to have brightly coloured hair, facial piercings etc until you hit 18-21. For me that's the time to get yourself a haircut (and a normal colour), remove the nose stud and the lip ring.

It annoys the hell out of me when I see some 28 year old with dyed black hair, eye-liner on his face and countless piercings. Unless you are in the tattoo/hair dressing/piercing industry then get rid of it, grow up and find an occupation. For the record I had all of these things except the eye-liner and tattoos up until I was 18.

That's adorable! Love the colour.
Mines like a brightish red but it needs re-dying because my roots are disgusting :/ For some reason I can't get as bright as the bottle says :( I'm jelly of all those people with vibrant hair. ;(

That's definitely something I forgot to mention!
I agree that if you are not working in a industry that allows funky hair color, and piercings, than you should quit it and get a proper job.
As a teenager and student it's ok....and that is usually until around 20 or 21 cuz you have job interviews etc...

I am in my late twenties now, but I had natural black hair and minimal piercings until I landed myself a job in the web/ graphics design industry.
Before that I worked in the ministry, so I had zero earrings and natural hair color.
and also when worked as a therapist at hotel spas, I even took my hair color another notch darker, had very minimal make up, and my hair was always up in a bun.

Currently I feel the most comfortable and happiest that I have ever been in my life, and am proud of the way I look.
But I gotta say, I did my share of working and playing by the rules and had to fight hard to get the freedom that I have now :)
