my favorite gaming dialogue was Ollie the Orphan from Dragon Age. A war veteran in the Alienage wanted coin and he was like there are more veterans that wanted coin(b/c i had given him coin) and Ollie just blurts out: "I'm an orphan!" the veteran just gives him a funny look and goes "yeah -erm- and orphans..." It was hilarious.

What is the funniest thing you've heard in a game, AI or random kid through headset/keyboard?

Pretty much all of Timesplitters: Future Perfect is actual comedy gold.

One of the only games I've played where the script is intentionally funny, which is nice.

Sam and Max has some downright hilarious dialog. Between Sam's downright surreal and random nonsense ("Do you have any....weasels on sticks?") to Max's sociopathic predilections, I haven't laughed at anything quite so much as I have those episodes lately.

Bill in Left 4 Dead: "You call this a zombie apocalypse? This is nothing compared to the great zombie war of '57!" Zoey: "What?!" Bill: "Naw, I'm just kidding ya."

I've recently picked The Bard's Tale back up. I'd forgotten how much I liked the narrator.

"The mercenary, typical of his sort, crude, rude and very handy to have in a fight...one again, certain parallels can be drawn to the Bard."

"A dangerous temptress and assassin, the Rogue would draw her enemies in, then be gone in a flash leaving only pain and death is her wake...The Bard of course left a trail of pain and death in his wake without even trying."

"A locket made by the wee folk of the southern islands, such charms were often known to bring long life and good heal to their bearers. Of course, this particular charm also held a terrible curse, muahaha...oh, all right, so there's no curse, but I can dream, can't I?"

" All hail The Bard, rat killer and rodent bane! He who has made the cellars once again safe for buxom bar maids and-"
Bard: "How about you tell the story, and leave all the patronizing comments to me?!"
"Oh fine, have it your way..."

Many of Alistair's lines in Dragon Age Origins crack me up.

"What? Lead? Me? No, no, no. No leading. Bad things happen when I lead. We get lost, people die, and the next thing you know I'm stranded somewhere without any pants."

"Yes, that's right! Watch as I thrash our enemies with the mighty power of floral arrangements! Feel my thorns, darkspawn! I will overpower you with my rosy scent!"

"Just so you know, if the king ever asks me to put on a dress and dance the Remigold, I'm drawing the line. Darkspawn or no."

I love Alistair.

Oh... how can I explain to our Sovereign the news? Um... Majesty? I have good news and bad. The good news is your uncle died! :D ...no, that won't do. *ahem* Majesty, your late uncle has bequeathed you a town... of sorts. Hmm, maybe more positive. It pleases me to inform you that you've been granted a tremendous opportunity! You can be the first Ardanian sovereign to give the word 'slum' a good name! ...Well that won't work either. *sigh* It's no use. Majesty... look out the window. Rogues, elves, and debauchery as far as the eye can see. It's all yours, no thanks to your dead uncle. Think you can clean up that mess?

I hated the script from TS:FP. I know, I'm sorry.

But on the other hand I loved BF:BC1 - at least partly because the squad genuinely remind me of my housemates from uni.

Baldur's gate has some of my favourite lines...

Minsc [http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Baldur's_Gate_series#Minsc]: What? Boo is outraged! See his fury! It's small, so look close. Trust me, it's there.

Battlefield: Bad Company. Just everything about its humour is spot-on, and what seals the deal is how the banter flows naturally, not skipping awkwardly from soundbyte to soundbyte as other games do.
