Now I admit that some of these *may* be in general usage and I'm not claiming to have invented them ( well I did, kinda, but not saying if they escaped that it was me).

So we know famous people by nicknames, the "Hoff" being a famous example, do you have any pet nicknames for famous people/characters.

You can also extend this to any responses you always do in response to the mention of their name.
EG.

"The Picard" ( and in response) It.Is.The.Picard
Dear old William T. Shatner, is affectionately known as "The Shat" in our house
If anyone ever mentions bones you have to respond by going "Dammit Jim! [insert wit here] "
We even have a special Londo Mollari song ( to the tune of Dean Martins 'Volare" )

M. Night sham a lamala lama lama ding dong

I'm sure I've forgotten some...

So come on, admit it.. you know you do.....

Benedict Cumberbatch is now and always will be Benedryl Wafflesticks.

Alternatively, any of the names produced by this generator:

Tumblr is the best sometimes.

Edit: I love that even with the completely ridiculous ones, people would still probably know who you were talking about.

"Have you seen the new film with that guy? What's his name? Blubberbutt Cuckooclock?"

I recently learned that in China they call Sherlock Holmes and John Watson (from the BBC series Sherlock) Curly Fu and Peanut, respectively. So now I call Martin Freeman "Peanut" whenever I see him.

Miley Cyrus is referred to as Miley Walrus, Miley Virus, Cryley Cyrus, Cryley Cry-rus, Smiley Psycho, and Man-ah Montana.

Channing Tatum is either called Tatum Channing or Tanning Chatum.

Also, I usually pronounce Shia LaBeouf phonetically in my head. Shee-ah Lah Bee-oof.

Goethe was "Gooth" for a good while there. And then Euler was "Yooler"

They're not really who you mean I guess, but hey.

Benedict Cumberbatch is Benny Cucumbers, after what a friend of mine called him when he couldn't remember the right spelling.

Shia LaBeouf is Shia TheBeef.

Any celebrity with a nickname is always referred to in full, e.g. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Phil 'The Power' Taylor, 'Macho Man' Randy Savage.

For me, Sean Bean will always been Seen Bean.
I always call him Sean Beanbags. Can't really remember how that started.

I think that a hardcore wrestling league starring authors needs to be a thing.

Can you imagine the fun when the crowd calls for the 'Ezra Pound and Ground'?

Also, only identifying MacGregor as Obi Wan just seems wrong to me :p I grew up watching Alec Guinness outclass everyone on my uncle's VHS tapes of Star Wars so while MacGregor was the best thing in the prequels, it's always going to be ole Genuine Class for me :p

I never not refer Shia LaBeouf as "THE Actual Cannibal"... Shia LaBeouf.

Similar to what someone said above, I always referred to Dwayne Johnson as "The Rock"... and then I played Dark Souls. So he is now and forever:
Dwayne "Havel" Johnson *cue theme song*

On the topic of famous game devs with nicknames: Hidetaki Kamiya is "Based Kamiya" and Hideo Kojima is always "Kojima~san".

I just call Benedict "Big Ben", because he's tall, popular and British, and it's much easier to say.

Whenever a celebrity suddenly decides they have a PhD in political science, I'll usually refer to them by a character they played just to make fun of them.

I've always called Hayden Panettiere (no idea if I spelled that right) "Hayden Planetarium", just because I have no idea if I'm actually pronouncing her last name correctly or not.

I like to call Mark Wahlberg "Marky Mark" because I know it pisses him off when people call him that.
