If you honestly can't see that's a joke you're taking this whole thing way too seriously.Zeeky_Santos said:Let's get this little misunderstanding straight. When we say "anthro" we mean anthropomorphic. Not Anthropology. With the former being the 'humanisation' of something (don't argue semantics, there's no point) and the second being the study of humans and humankind.Dystopia said:I studied anthropology at university; I have a degree in it.
It is horrifying to me that people are using it to describe their bestiality interests.
We do not use your precious word, we use a similar yet different one.
I guess this pretty much reveals the truth: There's a little furry in everyone.BlueInkAlchemist said:Gentlemen:

Bestiality Lite. You've managed to say what I was going to say in an lengthy boring post by using just 2 words. Awesome.Danik93 said:I think that Furry = Bestiality lite. I mean it's not bestiality but not that far away... Fur tail and animal face make it more like an animal than a human so it's more Bestiality than anything else. But I can accept that it's called furry, because furry is a better name on it that Bestiality Lite.
That's probably why some people have a beef with "furries".Sgt Doom said:Could we simply not have threads about furries at all? There's no threads for scat, BDSM or other fetishes, nor is there really any reason to.

Oh I agree, but EVERYONE (including you and I) makes decisions based on information given to them, and very few actually seek to confirm or research that information. Based on whose information you're given, being a furry could, or could not be bestiality, and for all intents and purposes both could be right or wrong.Zeeky_Santos said:Not quite, you wouldn't ask a person who's never played a game what it's like would you?Verlander said:I guess that's my point though-these creatures don't exist, so your rules for what they are/aren't and what they can/cannot do, is completely your own opinion, and as valid as anyone elses, including those who think that it's bestiality and wrong
It's a difficult thing, but you've got to be in it to get some of these things.
Wow... I never figured you for a furry, Zeeky.Zeeky_Santos said:THANK YOU. Seriously, people of the escapist. Stop dumping bestiality in the furry pool. We don't want the shit, we aren't into that shit. We're into the Animals ONLY IF they're half human, it's the human bits we like the animal bits make it 'exotic' to put it in laymans terms.
Well said. Also, being a furry doesn't ALWAYS mean they like Yiff.MaxRaine said:I would qoute a few posts in this thread but there's only small parts of a lot of them I'd like to include so instead I'll just write a generalized post.
Going by the definition of bestiality then I guess yes, a human who wants to have sex with an anthropomorphic animal is still indeed into bestiality.
However, there's still a distinct line between that and wanting to have sex with your dog. Why? Well, because the furry characters are
1. fictional and
2. created with full understanding of what they do thus can consent to the act.
Besides, if you look up furry porn you'll notice that it is in fact much more common for two anthropomorphic characters to engage in the act rather than a human and an anthro. So if anything it should be considered on the same level as liking to watch two dogs going at it xD
I'm also concerned about this fixation that being a Furry means having a fetish. This too is in general entirely untrue. Sure I'm not gonna seem a fool and deny that erotic images doesn't litter the fandom like confetti during a parade, but it's not ALL it's made from.
It's in fact the most diverse fandom I can think of, pretty much everyone in it has his/her own idea of what being a furry is as well as liking different things about it.
Sure some like the porn but some only like the like the cute/cool/-adjective- characters, others see it as a more spiritual thing (look up Therians on wikipedia, not saying all therians are furries of course but there are therians in the fandom none-the-less).
Then there's the fursuiters, not every furry like that thing, I for one wouldn't want to go within 10 feet of a fursuiter nor would I ever wanna wear one.
The most common trait in the fandom is simply the love for art.
All in all furries are as diverse as the human race as a whole.
Being a Furry is not having a fetish. This is almost as bad a misconception as thinking furries like fucking animals. It's just a community revolving around humanized animals.
Nothing more, nothing less.
That said I know haters are gonna hate, there's no escape from that. Some are just stubborn and refuse to accept that which is different from what they consider normal. I've read that it's an instinctive survival trait.
