I'd do it!
I'd ask if I can get an injection to make me as close to my avatar as possible though, which means scales.
are scales an option?

This isn't possible. There's an actual US law preventing the creating of human-animal hybrids.

BUT.. if I could present an opinion: it would be this. Seeing as how human-animal hybrids aren't actually people, I would take it upon myself to make sure they would stay as close out to society as possible. If they fuck up the gene pool, it would be the end of us. Also, judging by all the negative reception furries get, I could easily predict lynchings; lynchings I would gladly and gleefully be a part of.

As for the furry dilemma: the definition of "furry" is the sexual exploitation or suggesting of anthropomorphic characters.

Nothing more.

Well if the serum has been rleased to th public then wouldn't a lot of people use it? In which case I wouldn't be discriminated against too much, anyway being only 14 I don't see any need but maybe when i'm older...

We can't handle this idea, not in a capitalist society.

All because of the simple rule that when an animal pees on stuff, they own it.

We'd be taken over in a weekend, a damp stinky weekend.

.... look at my avatar.

There's your answer.
You'd be grooming your cute new kitty ears and swishing your tail about in no time!

Also, if I managed to get ahold of this "serum" I would test it on a random person I could find, find out it works all Josef Mengele style, and rid the world of the test subject and sell my results for millions of dollars on the black market.

Obviously the person who uses it is going to face a lot of social problems, discrimination prominently. Honestly, I'd do it. Discrimination be damned I'd probably be smarter than all my co-workers, score one promotion for me.
Promotions are not always about being smart.
You'll be demoted cause of racism, or species-ism or something.

So I take pride in my humanity, and this fox serum can go and take a barrel roll.

I like how all the responses to this are very black and white. "EW GROSS NO" or "OH HELL YES".

I think I would actually do it. Being a lizard-man sounds incredibly entertaining.

I'd take it. Provided it turned me into a Rabbit furry. :3
I take it you'd have to adjust your life accordingly, right? Your physical characteristics would not exactly make you suitable for public living, after all.

Also, chances are you wouldn't look anything like it is in "furry" drawings. You'd most likely look like a complete freak of nature.

And aren't you worried that if anyone from the CIA found you took this, they would perform horribly gruesome experiments on you? I could only imagine how they could find out how human-animal hybrids work.

Depends on if my gf would break up with me over it, and the level of furriness we're talking about, as well as if you get the traits of the animal in question beyond just some furry bits.

If we're talking full on hair all over body like animal with snout and such? No.

If we're talking hair color change, eye color change, ears and tail, sure, why not. I'd choose a wolf. XD

Yes, because I assume it will help me get laid. And if not I'll at least have a stronger hand and greater stamina.

For all that weight lifting I do... Yeah... Weight lifting...

I'd get the serum, but after waiting a couple years to see it's effects on the general public, make sure there are not any freaky side effects.

I'd totally become like a fox and devote my life into mischief and thievery... like a Japanese Demon Fox! A Kitsune!
Plus, I could shapeshift, make people adore me as a God (or a Kami, in this case) and then I would start collecting the Chaos Emeralds and I could you my twin tails to FLY!
No, wait.....

... you know what, THAT would be AWESOME!!!!

I'm not sure that that law applies to things you do to yourself though...

Still, if it was available, and it wasn't lethal, I'd be all over it. Load me up some lion DNA/RNA. And I won't be a part of any lynchings. If you're taking me down you better bring a fucking rifle or the god damn US army.

Absolutely disgusting. There is already a huge social inequality gap in the developed world. Something like this would only serve to widen it even further. People would be denied opportunities becuase they could not afford to purchase this serum. People would be incapable of doing as much as those who were fortunate enough to get the wealth needed to acquire it. Some people will merely use the serum to make up for their own lack of effort. Such a thing will only bring problems to our society, and thus must not be used.
I agree completely. There are many ethical concerns here, beyond the human genome. A lot of social progress would be undone because a wealthy minority would have access to this fairly dubious concoction, and the subsequent mutual disharmony would likely wreak catastrophical damage on our collective society.

...and for some reason, The Internationale was playing in my head as I wrote this.

Science letting me actually become part cat? Awesome! However, even leaving aside the social questions (and assuming my appearance wouldn't change much)...

On the one hand, having better vision, dexterity, and muscle strength would be awesome, and damn the naysayers.

On the other, I spend too much time sleeping as it is. XD
