*puts hand up* erm... but I like pineapple on my pizza. *nervous laugh* it's quite tasty.

My (foster) sister can't stomach tomato sauce, and refuses to eat anything that she had a bad experience with; there was some medical test she had to have done which required drinking several cans of beef consume' and now, YEARS later, she will not eat stew. Or pork. God knows why (maybe she threw up once because of sickness after having pork, it wouldn't surprise me). Also skittish around sudden noises.

God help her if she ever has a genuinely traumatizing event, she'd probably just curl up and die like a damn rabbit.

Myself, I can't eat onion, tomato, peppers or banana.

Correctly processed I can, but straight up, no. I like the taste onion gives to something, but biting into a piece is extremely unpleasant. So, no onion on pizza or fried. Stewed, in sauces, etc. is usually fine. It's not just the strength of the flavor either since I like the taste of garlic. As in: biting into a garlic clove, though preferably baked.

Tomato, I just don't like. Ketchup and sauces with it, I do.

Like salsa, can't stand bell peppers. I like jalapenos, but have no spice tolerance. Go figure.

Banana makes me sick, but diluted into banana bread is delicious.

Worst I've ever personally experienced was a friend of mine in high school. Near as I can figure, the family lived on a specific pasta and nothing but. I know that is father adored pasta and they had it often, but the guy wound up staying with my family for a week once and my parents nearly kicked him out after a few days.

Fast food was okay, but almost literally anything else we gave him we had to work to get him to even try. When he did, he looked like he just licked a slug. He had no allergies, but I remember him refusing to eat tuna, scrambled eggs, chicken baked in tomato sauce (not my favourite, but I can eat it happily enough), scalloped potatoes, mashed potatoes, hamburger patty with brown gravy, and spaghetti made with a different sauce than he was used to (homemade tomato and ground beef).

One of my best friends barely eats anything. When I first met her two years ago, all that she ate was bread, butter and potatoes. I'm dead serious. Once, we tried to come up with a list of things she eats and we came up with 11 (potatoes only counted as one). I don't remember what the others were, but most of them were a bit of a stretch. She eats more stuff now, mostly because of a little prodding from me and my friends, but it's still a little pitiful.

Oh yeah, my dickhead roommate doesn't eat the stems on spinach. They literally taste and feel the exact same!

I have an aversion to seafood, Asian food, 'Asian' food, and asparagus. I also have an exceptional dislike for all mushrooms great enough to be considered a fear (mycophobia).

Equally or more interesting is how fussy I am with beverages accompanying meals. Meals with a major sweet component (fruit salad, cranberry sauce, BBQ sauce) must be accompanied with skim milk. Light meals without a sweet component must be accompanied with juice, preferably orange or cranberry. Heavy meals without a sweet component must be accompanied with iced tea. On a few occasions I've supplied my own beverage, predicting the lack of my preference. I won't go visibly crazy if I do not have the correct beverage with a meal, but the lack does significantly impact my ability to enjoy it.

My sister can't break the eating habits she's had since a child. She can only eat what we usually got as kids and refuses everything else. Think her diet these days mainly consists of spaghetti bolognese and candy(she fat!).

We had a thing going for a while, since my mom and I were sick of eating the same food all the time, where we ordered weekly food deliveries. We never got to know what food we'd get each week since both the ingredients and recipes came at the same time, and holy fuck was it wonderful. Great, varied food(though the fish always sucked) and tasty as hell.
If you hadn't figured it out already my sister refused to eat it. She'd take extremely small portions and just sit there until we were done, poking at the food and being grumpy for the rest of the evening. Often we'd start fighting during the meals since my mom and I did the cooking, and were proud of the results. Seeing her sitting there like a little brat made me see red. After a while we had to make seperate food for her, but the left overs became too much so we had to quit the deliveries...

As for myself I'm fine with most things and am willing to try food I'm unfamiliar with to see if I like it or not. I'm a bit put off by eating innards though. Liver, for example, tastes great until I remember it's liver I'm eating.

And ex-roommate of mine ate a full plate of some stew, went for seconds and then refused to finish it when he noticed *one* little stem of broccoli in the pot (not even on his plate).

My parents never tolerated fussy eating and were adamant in it. Now at 21 I eat or at least try everything. I have two cousins who used to be really picky, but even they've grown enough to try most stuff now. I'd say it's because of my upbringing that kids being picky with food always turns on some signal light in my head and makes me roll my eyes or often even throw in a snarky comment. I don't know any really fussy-eating adults, but I can only imagine some of the extreme cases mentioned here sitting down to dinner with me.

A friend of mine, as in a man in his 20s, will not eat onions in any way shape or form. Or so he says, because they put onion or onion powder in almost anything, and if you sneak it in there he can't tell.

But otherwise, he refuses to eat anything with onion in it, after living him for a year, I've never been so pleased to put onions on my food again.

Personally, the only foods I refuse to go near are blue cheese and goats cheese. Anything else, I don't mind, though I extremely dislike mushrooms on their own, but if someone cooks them into something, I'll eat round them.

We had a "smörgåsbord" (a type of buffet) and there was two Americans invited. The whole table was full of delicacies, but the two Americans just sat there poking at food asking what it was and rejecting it as soon as they heard. Eventually they ate some bread with butter on it.

I don't remember every detail but this is among the rejected food: strong tasting cheeses, pickled herring, caviar, liver paté, smoked salmon, eggs (yes, regular boiled eggs), several kinds of sausages.
Oh those crazy yanks! I'll give em the pickled herring though, that stuffs pretty dodgy.

I love those Smörgåsbords (or as it's called in Finland "seisova pöytä"), not only do you get a wide range of stuff on it, it's filling but not overly so, and you get to see what the restaraunt has on offer, if you plan on coming back.

The only things I don't really like are because of their texture.

Mushrooms are filthy because of their furry/rubbery/spongy texture when chewing them.

Tim Schafer doesn't like them either.

Never tried oysters but they look like they have the texture of slimy boogers. Not very appealing.

I don't eat tomato because their watery seeds are gross. Mash them into a paste or sauce and it's fine.

I don't like peas either, they ruin the taste of everything they are with. Potato, rice, sauce etc.

Baked Beans look disgusting but probably taste alright.

There's probably lots more that I don't like eating but it's mostly because of their texture, not taste.

Glad to see that my mind wasn't the only one in the gutter.

Now, I know quite a few people that can't have different foods touch on their plate, so much so that at least one of them uses a divided cafeteria tray to keep food separate.

Me personally I'm not too picky, but keep turnips, radishes, crab, lobster & shrimp away from me. Turnips just smell like dirt to me & I can't get past that. My hatred of radishes comes from having to eat them with damn near every meal as a child. As for the shellfish, I don't care how many people tell me they taste amazing, they look too much like bugs for me.

Oh & even though I love the taste of coconut, that texture is just not right.

Onions, most fish, liver and few other things. Onion as a spice is fine, but normal onions cut and put in meals isn't something I like, it just feels wrong eating those. As for fish most of it smells rotten for me. Still kind of fussy eater and if its something I don't like I will just put it aside and skip it. But I usually go by smell if I like it or not. If it doesn't smell good, I most likely wouldn't like it.

I don't think I'm too bad but some people might disagree. I like most fruit and veg and mushrooms which most people don't like.

I haaaate peppers cooked or raw and raw onion.
I absolutely hate peas, seeing them on adverts make me rage.
Don't eat pizza because I'm so fussy. It can't be tomato based or anything other than chicken/pepperoni.
Don't eat steak or beef unless it's slow cooked.
Don't eat spicy food or curries, dumplings, pork chops, lamb, burgers or anchovies.
There's not a chance in hell I'd have lobster because the thought of having to break them apart makes me cringe, same with prawns I have to buy them already peeled.
I rarely microwave or fry food either.

I went through some weird stages as a kid, only eating frozen bread or nibbling gravy granules or not eating meat and bread.

My boyfriend is somehow worse than me but I think that's through a lack of trying most things.

I'm not picky at all. Anything that's not loaded with raw tomatoes, zucchini or mushrooms is fair game. I knowingly bought and ingested squid with tripe and rather enjoyed it.

My sister's pretty good too, but when she was a eight, she went through a terrifying phase where she would eat beige food. And ONLY beige food.

Hi my names Steven and I'm a fussy eater!

I hate onions as some people have said if I come across onion in food I'll stop eating it immediately. In fact i don't eat fruit or vegetables. Apart from chips or mashed potato.

I'd say it's a texture problem I have also in my mind if something smells bad to me it's gotta taste terrible.

I do want to expand what I eat but I don't see how without some kind of psychological therapy! But it seems I'm the only one of that opinion professional sources seem to think just start eating that stuff is totally fine.
