So, after never being able to see Futurama when it was on TV (because I'm from Sweden, it would always show late, and I wasn't that interested) I have started watching it on Netflix just because I need something to entertain me while I wait for The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones.

Now. I had only previously seen this episode joked about on a meme somewhere with the "lie down, try not to cry, cry some more" thing and didn't think nothing on it since I didn't know where it was from.

Now, I just watched it and I feel extremely depressed. Not sure if this was the intention they were going for.

Anyways, long story short, I need something to cheer me up, so what do you people usually do when you need cheering up?

PS. Captcha was "fuddy-duddy", so I guess we're off to a good start.

I go read Schlock Mercenary [http://www.schlockmercenary.com] or TV Tropes [http://www.tvtropes.org] really. Both manage to make me chuckle.

Normally Walking on Sunshine always cheers me up. But it's kind of contra-indicated in this particular case...

At least now that you've got Jurassic Bark behind you you can be safe in the knowledge that there is no worse moment in film history so it can only go up from here!

Managed to cheer me up by watching the "conversations with my 2-year old" series on youtube.
It's all good!
False alarm!

That better be true or I will find you!

I'm open to suggestions but I can't think of a single worse moment. Luck of the Fryish isn't far off but still manageable.
The death of Bambi's mother? Ash's death? Mufasa's death? The goodbye from Monster's Inc.? All nothing, NOTHING, compared to the sad little dog waiting for all those years.
... even thinking about it now makes me tear up so I better stop here. I'm not even exaggerating.

Compared to the almost complete destruction of the Toy Story crew... The episode doesn't hold much power over me anymore.

Considering we had to put my beloved cat down a few weeks ago, Jurassic Bark wouldn't be the best thing for me to watch, like ever again. Now I need some cheering up just thinking about me watching that episode.

Watch the rest of the series, they all seem overly sentimental. Then think that this series was trying to hop on the the back of the we want family guy back bandwagon, then lie down, try not to cry, cry some more :D.

Have we already forgotten the death of Little Foot's mother?

That scene in Futurama was most likely inspired from Hachiko, a true story where an Akita at Shibuya would travel to the train station to greet his master whenever he came back from work. When his master didn't return (he died at work), he continued to return and wait at the station for 9 years until he himself died. There is a bronze statue of him at Shibuya station (also seen in games like The World Ends With You and Tokyo Jungle, which take place in Shibuya) and is treated as an icon of loyalty in Japan. Hachiko's story is the most famous, but there are other stories from history that have dogs waiting for their dead/missing owners.

Wait, that's not happy at all. Damn it!

I guess a tip to cheer you up is to not watch Hachikō Monogatari.

Yeah.... We don't speak of that episode here on the internet. Ever.

Seriously though. That is the only moment in any entertainment medium that has actually made me cry. Seriously. I can't even handle it. If there's one thing Futurama is good at, it's lulling you into a soft and humorous daze and then violently ripping your heart out before you have a chance to comprehend what happened.

Watch a video called "Bitches at the Airport" or "What Disney Princesses Taught Me" from Jenna Marbles on Youtube. Funny shit there. "What Girls do in the Car" is pretty great too.

The episode called Luck of the Fryish makes me cry manly tears. It's a bit of a happier note.

Failing that, realize that dogs are among the greatest things on earth, and try to take good care of one.
That ending with Dont You Forget About Me?

Those......FEELS!

If you thought that was sad, do not watch this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yM5b2LEg_w&list=PLedFvTNAtZz4L-PWnoDQ-shOjUw3d4hdj]. You will have someone in your home cutting onions (most likely the nearest ninja). Because, seriously, I own one of the dogs in the link, and I can tell you exactly how loyal they really are.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, I do believe the episode the OP is talking about is based on the clip I linked... or at least the story behind the clip.

Huh, I always thought it was based on Greyfriars Bobby, though they're pretty similar stories admittedly. Turns out there's a shitload of them.
