There is still hope for the future.

I am a 16 year old and since I was about 8, my favorite movie has been Pulp Fiction and the Big Labowski.

There are two simple words that I feel sums things up rather nicely and succinctly:

Times change, dude. (Crap, three words.)

What was hailed as masterpieces by us "old timers" isn't going to be the same for newer generations, simple as that.

And for the record, I actually liked Revenge Of The Fallen. Yes, plot and character development are important to a serious story or film, but sometimes you just have to take your brain out and see some stuff get blowed up and some faces get taken.
go watch Crank if you want that kind of stuff,
(absolutely mind bogglingly awesome by the way)

OT: I see those people all the time, at school, at work, worst part of it is when they say
"why don't you dress normally, and listen to normal music like everybody else?"
(by the way, I have orange painted hair {lost a bet} and always wear camo jeans, and wear a hat)
(and listen to Rock instead of the regular radio-bullshit)

but yeah, best treatment for those people is knowing your better
"I'm a Bassist and a singer, what the hell do you do?"

Kids like different things than older people might. (I know shocking right?)

But for most kids it's not about pacing, or plot, or character motivations or development. It's about explosion porn, and cool character designs.

For girls it's about Miley Cyrus and Twilight, so I'd think of them as lesser human beings.

It's not really that they lack the intelligence it's just. Kids are the biggest victims of the hype machine. They all want to watch and listen to the same things as their friends, and they all know what's "cool"

Admittedly, I thought Transformers was some good explosion porn. First one was better, though, because they didn't spend 30 freakin' minutes trekking across the desert, and there were no Devsator balls.

I never got the godfather either to be honets. It failed to draw me in.

But yea, the visual wow of films like transformers does seem to mean allot now when compared to plot.

Well, I'm a high-schooler, and I hate stupid movies like Twilight and Transformers 2
Ditto. I love watching classic films (like The Godfather, Dirty Harry, etc.)And there were some great movies this year (Public Enemies, District 9, 500 Days of Summer, Zombieland and Watchmen). I haven't seen Inglorious Basterds yet, so I can't comment on that.

And 'Up' came out this year, so it was not entirely terrible. The worst 2009 movie I watched is between Harry Potter #6 and Transformers 2

Point is, most highschoolers are fucking stupid. There, I said it.

*Raises flame shield* Hell, a lot of people I know in my year level think the Wii is a legitimately good video game system. I'm not gonna argue about the consoles now, but my point still stands.

Well mighty judge of what makes a good movie and a bad movie, what about the fallowing movies?

Lord of the Rings
Grapes of Wrath
Sunset boulivard
Gondi
Whats the matter with hellen?
gone with the wind
bram stoker's dracula
the thing
Memoirs of a gesha

Those are my favorit movies.I like to think I have good tastes. Yes I agree, movies made today just are not the way they used to be.But every once in a while a good one will pop up. SO you can't say all the new ones are a pile of ass and garbage.

I was at my old boss' place one evening, and he had me sit and watch Transformers 2. I hated it. I told him so, and he was all, "But it's Blu-ray! Did you see the detail?" I told him that I wasn't into it enough to care about the "stunning detail", because the movie sucked. So it isn't just the kids who have no taste. I know 30 year old women who have damn Twilight posters hanging in their rooms. I don't think that it is dying though. When the Coen Brothers make a bad movie, then I will have lost faith.
