Oh please people. The only thing that's changed greatly is your memory. The younger generations have always liked stupid shit, it's not a sign of the decline in our culture, it's just what people of that age range have always liked.

Sometimes, kids just want to see shit go BOOM! You can't blame them for that. (although I think they are pricks and I hate them and will burn the music industry to the ground)

The older generation always looks down on the interests of the younger generation. Example:

"Rocko's Modern Life? Kids today are into that? Man, when I was your age, we were into Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Now THAT was a real cartoon."

My father's words, slightly paraphrased. Sound familiar?

OP: You may want to think about your definition of good. If not, you may want to think about why your current definition has any value.

Godfather calling it stupid and boring.
You do know that you are supposed to beat the living shit out them now...It's the LAW.

OT:I stand away from that crowd of teenagers.I love the classics and hate most movies that have been released in the last 3 years.I often have to rely on movies like Schindler's List or The Godfather to keep my sanity,'cause the people i go to school with say that Twilight and Transformers(the new ones) are sacred relic of cinema.

I'm truly ashamed to say that most of my age peers are like this. That's why I don't have many friends.
For me I don't really care about friends but I have to resist the urge to beat those fanboys skulls in every day I go to school, but then I just remember once the next crash happens all of the bad movies will go away and the acursed fanboys shall leave.

This thread just made me think of something.

How did Jared Leto get from Requiem for a Dream to Thirty Seconds to Mars?

Every so often we come out with good movies IE District 9 and Paranormal Activities and i loved those movies but for every good thing their comes a bad one such as Planet 51 and the twilight series i don't mean to offend anyone but i think that the movies are generally bad from what I've heard and in my personal opinion

I tried to get a few of my friends reading the Watchmen novel recently.
They have a really hard time understanding the plot, and now call me gay because of Dr. Manhattan.

Yeah, I'm not exactly, what you may call, confident about the future of good movies and good books.

Here's a hint

They're kids. Not many people have good tastes when they are that age. I'm sure people were saying the same thing about your generation.

Also, don't think that there are somehow more bad movies out there, bad movies from the past just don't resurface a lot, whereas new bad movies are "louder" in the social scene. They'll be forgotten in 5 years

I was talking to one of my sister's little friends...Well...I was talking AT her about how awesome Pulp Fiction is. She responded.
"Well, I'm jest gonna stick with Epic Movie and Meet the Spartans." to which all her friends responded about how much they love those movies too.

That is the closest I've come to vomiting due to what someone said.
Also, I live in South Carolina, so imagine that quote in the most obnoxious southern accent you can.

To be honest the original version of Blade Runner is something close to awfull and it tanked epicly at the box office(Then again it was the year of ET...everything tanked that year besides ET).

It was saved by cult folowing and years later the Director's Cut and more recently the Final Cut which is the only way to watch Blade Runner.

And really Ingloroius Basterds doesn't have better camera work or pacing than The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. The times changed and so did the technology involving camera work, pacing, editing and every other technical standpoint. Saying that todays movies are better cause they technicly improved is like saying a coloured movie is better than a black n´white movie cause it has the magical properties of colour.

TC stop fellating yourself every generation has a target demographic and has fairly the same ratio of good to bad movies. every generation has people trying to make money.

60's and 70s? = Cheap Expliotation
80s?= Crappy action hero's
90s-00s= Special effects driven

Everyone goes through a phase like that, different people get out of it at different times, I for one got out of it around 6th or 7th grade, and even back then I wasn't as bad as these kids.

The majority of people are stupid and have bad taste in everything. This isn't new. This isn't only common to your generation. Just be thankful that you can see this, which means you have comparatively better taste than them. Probably not as good as mine mind you, but you have to work towards that.

The real trick is to feign humbleness. "oh yeah that's neat, but hey maybe you might like this!" that's how you can turn your friends into cool folks like you, without the risk of turning them off. If they realize you know they have bad taste in stuff then they might go hang out with their bad tasting friends instead.

I honestly don't even know if this post is serious or not. I scare myself sometimes.
