I miss when Adam and Morgan would make fun of their interns and struggle to interpret the poorly written viewer mail.
Oh well, at least we have that show with the sexy women. If only they'd get rid of those guys making retarded comments.

I thought they canceled code monkeys. My favorite show (and they only one I like on g4) is reviews on the run staring Scot Jones, and Victor Lucas. Also, I just stared watching g4 1 or 2 years ago so I don't really know about the "old G4TV".

The old G4TV, and its predecessor, TechTV, were AMAZING.
X-Play
Cheat!
CinemaTech
Anime Unleashed
The Screen Savers
So many others...

Oh god, that was a channel I could sit down, watch 24 hours solid, and love every moment of it.

EDIT: Did I mention I'd walk away from that watching session knowing more about video games and computers than I did before sitting down? They taught me stuff, and made it INTERESTING!

I too have noticed the downfall of my favorite shows and tv station. I have watched channel 191 (where I live it's 191) since I was in high school and for me TechTV (at the time) was the best and only source for technological information and fun any techie could enjoy. I remember the screen savers, nerd nation, robot wars, anime unleashed, wired for sex and extended play. The great thing about Tech TV was that it informed you about technology in a way that isn't really around any more. I mean we have tech sections on CNN and google search but during the time they where the only source to actually learn and be entertained about technology.

Now... I don't know

Once I saw there was a 24 hour marathon about COPS or COPS 2.0 as they call it. Then there was some show about cheating people and then finnally, X-play. I think G4TV is trying to be the "man" channel like Spike did... kinda and I can't understand why. I'm sure there is plenty of room for debate but there's only 2 shows that still maintain some level of a technological source and they are X-play and Attack of the Show; but lately AOTS has been bordering on Tech show and/or comdey improv hour.

Well..... there's my observations and my conclusion is, in the past we needed a source of constant news and information on new technology so we can stay up to date and learn. Now technology is more of entertainment medium and so G4TV relflects that.

I don't get it in my apartment, but when I watched it back home with my brother, it was always about that weird ninja competition (forgot the name, sorry). Do they still show that?
Ii's called Ninja Warrior. And yes.

*topic* I definitely miss the old G4TV, when it actually meant something. X-Play was awesome until it became what it currently is, Cinematech was awesome as well (my TiVo agreed), and I loved Cheat! when Cory Rouse hosted it. The day Kristin Holt was hired to host was the day the show stopped being good, in my opinion. Portal, Pulse, and the internet kept me up to date on the gaming industry as a whole. Now I only have the internet.

Attack of the Show has always sucked, in my opinion.

Techtv were the days
Amen, brother. Even Leo Laporte was better back in the day.

And another thing. Is anyone else annoyed at their constantly repeating commercials?

"You're stuck on a treadmill......" SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!!
Not to mention..The "New" X-Play is heavily biased toward the Wii. I was shocked when they gave this game a 5/5...but the review had the same phrase repeating over and over...."Good for a Wii game"Argh...

Attack of the Show was good, but I preferred The Screen Savers. Also Kristin Holt was hot... I also remember a show where they devoted time to profiling out people in the gaming industry...

I know what you mean. I remember that I hated going to my grandpa's house before he got digital cable, then one day when I was flipping through the channels, I found cinematech playing scenes from Sonic Adventure 2: Battle and started watching G4. Now and days, I don't even bother watching x-play anymore after 2008.

Reviews on the Run and it's predecessor/sister show The Electric Playground (now EP:Daily) are definitely some of the bset game related TV out there and they have been for years. Tommy Tallarico, the original co-host for Reviews (and sometimes game music musician), was in my mind pretty much the original Yahtzee.

Heh, I haven't had access to the channel for a good while now, but it was already crap when I lost it... What was that one British science show? IT was alright... Brainiacs or something?

I think the thing I miss the most is X-Play's sketch comedy. They were fucking amazing.

Shad Grimgravy!
Adventures in Japan! (Morgan gotta lay off the Pachinko Machine)
Canada Guy
Johnny Extreme
Ratty Handpuppet
Bob and Steve
Anything involving the Interns
Hot Stuff coming your way!
Wildlife research on the Ganerd and Larpers!
Grabthor and Patrick Stewart!
JAZZERSISE!

Oh god, there are so many gems!

The only thing i ever see come on there is cops, ninja warrior, and old movies. While a lot of the movies are good they just can't compete with how things were. I know everyone says this about everything but they are too mainstream now.

The only thing decent on that show nowadays is Adam Sessler.

It used to be actually good. The whole channel. Now it seems like its trying to go more "mainstream."

I don't mind if they put a few shows in there for the mainstream audience, but to water down every show, while cancelling a bunch of fantastic ones?

Yeah. Fuck off mainstream.

Of course, this is all pretty old news. G4 went down this way forever ago. X-play and AOTS are still decent/pretty good and I like Ninja Warrior. I can't stand how often they show Cops and Cheaters though. And I miss Cinematech.

I thought x-play still does game reviews. I regularly check their website as I would IGN or Kotaku.
