A fish, [http://lparchive.org/Oblivion/Images/6-.png] you say? [http://lparchive.org/Oblivion/Images/2-.png]

I find that gag weapons aren't always that practical. To enjoy them you normally have go out of your way to use them. Saints Row 3 for example: The octopi launcher was very useful when you're outnumbered; the man-cannon truck wasn't very practical, but was fun on a rampage so you weren't using it as often.
The cube tank was awesome.

I think the addition of a unicorn that emits butterflies at a standstill and a rainbow trail when in motion is hilarious in an Old West setting. I always wear the Mexican Poncho outfit and imagine The Man With No Name riding it into the sunset...the rainbow sunset of wonderment...

I am inclined to disagree...

In Sid Meier's Railroads, any Rival Company can buy you out if 100% percent of the stocks of your company are owned (unless 100% is owned by you). Usually a buyout works by someone buying the majority share, then saving up until they can do the buyout. However, even if you own 90% of a rival company, a different rival company can still buy him out if you don't do it first, and having a minor share beat you to the punch is pretty embarrassing.

I remember the "Diggler" from Diablo 2. Crappy weapon, but funny if you know the reference. (hint - the weapon is a dirk)

:)

Was gonna say this, but I thought about it, and Dan's lethal if you're good with him.

OT: I love joke weapons and characters. More specifically, I love getting good with them and schooling people with them. It's not that I hit you with a fish, I beat you to death with a mackerel.

Well, at least the fish is the same as the standard bat, which doesn't mean it useless, but isn't extra powerful.

Most "joke characters" are "shit characters."

Take for example, Piku from Melee. The LIGHTEST character in the game's only difference from Pikachu is that his attacks DAMAGE HIMSELF.
I think the Mackerel falls soundly within 'gag weapon' territory, it may not have any stat debuffs, but the hit count in the feed and the 'FISH KILL' icon are enough to solidly place it as gag in my book. I always viewed 'gag' weapons as usable with one or more humorous side effects that may or may not be useful (see Wabbajack in Oblivion), whereas 'joke' weapons/characters are damn near useless and to get good with them is a challenge and mark of skill (see Dan Hibiki from Street Fighter).

My fav/favs are the weapons in the rachet and clank series that turn creatures into animals.

While I've never played it myself (curse you Japanese exclusivity!) I hear Metal Wolf Chaos has a Shark Gun (as in "a gun that fires sharks") in it.

Gotta go with Street Fighter's Dan. Not that I'm influenced by my avatar or anything.
Using all your meter for a long-ass taunt is meter well spent, I say.

The Penatrator From Saints Row 3. Nothing funner than running around killing people with a giant dildo baseball bat

Also most of the other costumes from god of war 2 are pretty cool like the fish suit

Actually, in Tales of Symphonia the "joke" weapons were insanely powerful. That and it looked pretty funny to have Lloyd with his fans, Riane with her broom and so on.

Phoenix Wright in Ultimate MvC3, he's argueably the best fighter in the game... In a world full of mutants, demons, devils, cat people and Fucking Vergil, a lawyer with no weapons or special training can beat the shit out of all of them.

He's basically the definition of a Lethal Joke Character, since until you go Turnabout all his "attacks" are just incidental hits during his investigation.

First thing that came to mind was the Morph-O-Ray/Sheepinator/Quack-O-Ray from Ratchet and Clank. Those things were amazing, especially the Gold Morph-O-Ray.

Giant chickens FTW!
