you kill the big alien battle ship aboard the aircraft carrier i thought it was the best thing ever
then with the feeling of pure "AWESOME, GIVE ME MOAR" the credits came along, epic FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

can't wait for crysis 2

Halo 2: HOLY SHIT A BIG CLIMAX IN SPACE OVER EARTH!!!!!! What the fuck are the credits doing here?!

Fallout 3 (original ending): So I just need to go into this radiation filled chamber to activate the purifier? Ok sure thing, let me pop a Rad-X first. Wait, why am I falling down? Whats that bright light up ahead? You motherfuckers...
Yeah... very sad original ending to fallout 3... not ok.

Fable 2, no matter what option you choose your still an arse in someway.
Plus I felt robbed that I didn't get to properly take part in the ending.

yeah, it is a pretty screwed up series.

I watched Elfen lied when I was younger, that pretty much screwed me up.

You do wake up in Broken Steel, so you aren't really dead.

This! It ended so abruptly, I wasn't expecting it.

Also the end of a Borderlands was a massive let down.

The ending of Starfox Adventures really did screw it all for me, it's like bang and that's it, no effort at all.

Easy:
Unreal 1

Throughout the game, you slowly come to recognise that the ancient writing by the indiginous people of the planet point to you being their saviour - but you're an escaped criminal, only interested in saving your own ass. You spend the entire game just trying to live, always pushing onwards, through waves and waves of increasingly nasty bad guys, and then... you escape in a small spaceship..

Which promptly runs out of fuel just outside the planet's gravitational pull. As the game says: "So much has happened, but so little has changed. Before the crash landing you were trapped in a tiny cell. Now, once again, you are confined in a prison."

When Epic could plot and had decent writers, before they failed with Unreal 2, and Cliffy B got too uppity.

Oh good, another chance for me to pour a bit of hate on Dragon Age...
So, first off I refuse to kill Loghain. Alistair promptly throws a tantrum and quits. Okay, that hurt, I liked him. But oh well, I have plenty of other meat shields in my party. Then I refuse Morrigan's ritual. She also throws a tantrum and quits. Crap. Not only did I like her as a character, but she was my fucking mage! The game has taken away my one and only crowd-control character! And right before the bloody climax!

Ending skipped. Game deleted.

Also, Borderlands. Luckily I was only watching over a friend's shoulder while she played it. I sure feel sorry for anyone who actually put in the hours of grind only to have the ending slap them in the face.

Yeah Fallout 3... wait I can't send in my mutant buddy who is immune to radiation in there...
Thank god they fixed that with Broken Steel.

Ow and Fallout 3 ending of a quest in tenpenny tower, where you can get the ghouls in with the diplomatic route, then returning a few days later. I have never felt betrayed like that in a game... Enjoyed putting a Flamethrower on his stupid face after nailing him to a wal with the railpike gun.. Sometimes I reload that time and use other evil instruments on him...

Portal...(not really the ending but the ending of the tests). I had an OMG feeling and felt awesome escaping. Best feeling ever.

Reverse example: I know everyone complains about it, but the ending of Indigo Prophecy was the best bit. Up until then it was just kind of dreary thriller, but then evil mayans and sentient AI's and sex scenes in hobo-infested railway stations start exploding out of it's ass and it all reaches a superb level of so-bad-it's-good hilarity.

"And so, the Mayans went back to controlling the secret world governments, and the sentient AI's went back to stalking us on the Web. I guess I should be happy."

The best ending line ever.

FF8: the last 25% of the game really screwed it up for me. I was really enjoying seeing the political intrigues between the different countries and how the mercenaries fit in. But then the game said "now for something completely different" and fucked it all up with that weird, completely unrelated to the rest of the story, sci-fi ending.

Spider-Man 3. Just the entire game. The red vs. black thing worked decent, but the rest of it kinda sucked.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3. It's just weird and keeps going.

Darksiders slightly. I was really hoping to see the other 3 horsemen.

Died 28 times trying to prevent enemies from destroying a UBS drive thing on Modern Warfare 2 Single Player. When I DID protect the device and when it DID finish uploading the secret files, I went out to be extracted by a helicopter, only to be betrayed and shot dead by General Shepard.

28 deaths for THIS?

Fallout 3. I don't mind the ending but I didn't realise that once it ended so did the whole game. i though you ould be able to continue to explore the wastes but no. I was pissed. I had to go through a lot of stuff to get to the same spot again.

I can think of two.

First one, Wizards and Warriors 3 on the NES.
I was like, 6 or 7 when I had this. I could never beat it because I never got to play it long enough and would often get stuck. Years later I dug out my NES and found it still worked, so I fired the game up. Played it and got to the end. I decided to side with the bad guy. He shot me in the back and I got chained up, just like you do when you die at any other point in the game!

The second came in Dragon Age: Origins
While looking for the ashes, I really wanted my character to be a reaver and didn't want to buy the book. I already had two specialization points at that stage. So I took some of the ashes and then destroyed them. Two of my party members took massive offense to this and joined in the tomb guard in attacking me. So I was down to a party of 2 trying to fight off my ex healer/rogue a tomb guard and some summoned minions. I reloaded the game and thought to take people who probably wouldnt care. I destroy the ashes, kill the guard and become a reaver. Then, I get back to camp and Wynn comes up to me, tells me she knows what I've done, and walks out of my party, with all the sweet healer gear I had on her!

I'm gonna go with Kane and Lynch.

I'm not gonna spoil it, but it basically makes everything you've done over the last few hours COMPLETELY POINTLESS.

I thought of making a thread like this after recently finishing Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.

I chose to give my loyalty to the Anarchs in the end, and when I, in my moment of glory, opened the sarcophagus and found it full of C4 which promptly exploded in my face, followed by the cutscene with Jack... I was simply dumbfounded and felt completely mindfucked. Jack, the likable pirate, the guy who taught me the ropes and who gave me advice and assistance in the worst of times, has played me all along and sacrificed me to get the Prince. FFFFFUUUUUUUU- basically.

For those of you who do not want the ending spoiled, it involved betrayal by one of my favorite characters, and it left me completely dumbfounded. The game had toyed with me for its entire duration, and I was left feeling extremely naive and stupid while staring glumly at the screen. Not in a thousand years would I have expected it to end the way it did.

Now, share your moments and/or endings in games which made you feel like an ass!
Should have listened to the chick on the beach. Que Sera Sera.
