Has there ever been a game that seemed fun (or not) up until the ending where it just made you really disappointed in the developers?
I personally hated (off the top of my head) the ending of
Gears of War, where they never actually explained what the hell was going on throughout the entire thing.
It was just a Dethroning Moment of Suck to me.
Have any of you ever encountered the same problem?

Risen. You beat the quite unimpressive Titan.

Then a voice over with no images says that everyone except your small island is dead.

God of War III.

Not only did the entire ending suck, but the entire final boss battle with Zeus sucked.

I hated the cliche "You had the power all along" thing. I hated how the Zeus battle just felt overly generic and thrown in. I hated that Kratos sacrificed himself at the end and that goddamn final boss was just fucking stupid. Did I mention that already?

Fable 2. I expected a boss fight but all I got was some idiot who wouldn't shut up until you stab him and if you don't stab him he gets shot in the head by Reaver. Game Over

Borderlands closely followed by Borderlands and then Borderlands.

Other than that an old Master System game called The Ninja, the ending was made all the more annoying because if you missed an item back on level 2 you had to go all the way back and work your way through the 13 sodding levels again for a congratulations screen.

Loved Fallout 3, but the ending was a pile of crap. Totally illogical and unsatisfactory. Good they fixed it a bit with Broken Steel.

...Army of two the 40th day.

I'm not saying that the story of either of the games was anything special but the end of 40th day basically makes it clear that you are being punished for playing the game. After 8 odd levels or so the game decides to kill the sidekick for no reason (the one you worked your ass off to save in the first game) then instead of a last boss you get to decided to either kill the bad guy and possibley doom shang hi (its never made clear if the city is destroyed) or you kill your friend and the guy pushes the button to blow up the city anyway but it turns out it was a hoax.

The sad part was that i was actually kind of having some fun up until that part. now i'll likely never play another one of the games again.

Well done for labeling spoilers clearly, but they're pretty useless unless you say what game you're spoiling.

OT: Assassin's Creed ending was pretty frustrating. Loved the second game's ending though.

God of War 2

The whole "Zeus is yo Daddy!"-thing was so damn contrived that I really cringed when I heard it. Also, I know it is the second chapter in a trilogy, but just fading to black during an intense moment is hardly what I would call an ending.

I have been dissapointed by the endings of so many games that I can't start counting them.

I would like to mention though, that the ending of Alan Wake dissapointed me at first, but after thinking about it I managed to make sense out of it. It was brief, but the dissapointment was still there.

Final Fantasy 13. I loved that game to pieces and thought it had a fairly interesting story...at least till the end! I mean, the ending ties things up, but everything just seems to work a little TOO perfectly in the favor of the heroes. It was kinda reminiscent of this one scene in the movie Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, where the protagonist jokes about bringing everyone who died back to life to make the audience feel happy. I kept expecting Fang and Vanilla to even reappear and be all "LOLZ FRIENDSHIP RESPAWNED US LMAO."

the end of Sniper: Ghost warrior was massively disappointing to me

you shoot the general and it fades out to the credits...

Bioshock 1, The ending was straight of the the FPS game handbook, I typical fight with a typical giant boss, having to use a number of different weapons. It was if they took the ending that was used in every FPS game before it. Nothing new, nothing innovative.

The rest of the game rocked, i loved it, i just wish the ending was better.

Dawn of War (is there an echo in here?) You have 1 faction with a dragging story and everyone is overacting. And in the end you think it's all good and well.

SPOILER

Until you unleash a bloodthirsty demon. That's it... that's the ending. It was a short campaign, too. You can't play as the other armies. That was a really shitty ending, it felt like it was the middle of the story, but nope.
