I generally accept that most games won't blow me away with their ending.

However, one that really stands out in my mind was Diablo 2's ending.

I mean, yeah it's a hack-and-slash but... damn.

It had a moderately interesting premise and story carrying you along to destroy Diablo and then...

The boss bitched out and had a boring death scene.

Mass effect. It looked like a cliche hollywood ending (with the rule of "cool" set to maximum), wich i dont like one bit.

MAFIA II

Ah, ninja'd

It's like there's a cutscene and then POOF! Credits..... I wanna know
what happened to Joe? Did they kill him?
Given it's a game about the mafia, chances are he's in a shallow grave with a bullet in him.

FUCK YES

And there was no "open world" option at the end, it just stopped. It whould have dropped you back in the city and said "go where you want, have fun, there's no more missions anymore" instead of making you replay missions and dick around inbetween without all the weapons unlocked (unless you replay the last one, but then it's raining all the time...).

So bacially, I'm complaining that the game just stopped...

But didn't they announce a sequel right after they made it? It only would have been annoying if it ended like Mafia II (I don't know of a Mafia III...).

Dawn of War (is there an echo in here?) You have 1 faction with a dragging story and everyone is overacting. And in the end you think it's all good and well.

SPOILER

Until you unleash a bloodthirsty demon. That's it... that's the ending. It was a short campaign, too. You can't play as the other armies. That was a really shitty ending, it felt like it was the middle of the story, but nope.
Dawn of War 2 was ok, pulled the "your fucked, now kill as many as you can, just kidding" card. Chaos Rising set the stage for another sequel with two endings (good and chaos).

wow, I just replied to three games on the forum I own...

Bioshock 2 (need i say something?)
Fallout 3 (The ending was...not good and i really hoped for my character to live so that i could explore the world further)
Assassins Creed (a pathetic cliff hanger with a VERY long credits)

I know, although I read that the final fight with the Tyranids was underwelming, they might be right. I have just begun on Chaos Rising (my lord it cranked up the difficulty on that one, I love it!) but I've been playing The Last Stand a LOT. (got to Wave 19 man! WHOO!)

What bothers me is why so many games NEED the two endings? I have so many! If I play them again I might never begin another in a bout a year or so!

Mafia II and Fable II's endings sucked hard. It's a shame both games were great all through the game and then the end comes and it just feels like a massive "FUCK YOU!" to the player.

Worst: any God of War game in particular but frankly most other games as well
Best: MGS4 (go ahead and flame me, I loved every moment of MGS4's cutscenes)

I have been dissapointed by the endings of so many games that I can't start counting them.

I would like to mention though, that the ending of Alan Wake dissapointed me at first, but after thinking about it I managed to make sense out of it. It was brief, but the dissapointment was still there.
I loved that game... Especially the ending! It's so complex, and I love it.

Hmm... As for mine. Just Cause 2. Anyone else who played it will agree when I say the following.

What the FUCK?

Assassin's Creed Two: <spoiler=Spoilaaarrz>It was totally fine when it was just Past and Future generations fighting past and future Templars, but then they introduced all this sci-fi-religious-complete-bollocks-y-shit and then there's this ALIEN (I shit you not) telling you that Humans are based off a race that came before them or some pointless shit, and that the world's going to end. THE FUCK?!! Way to pointlessly skullfuck something to the point I refuse to play Asslicker's Creed again.[/spoiler]

Err... Why?

The game's hardly built around providing a good story.

many of the above, but the worst has to be soul reaver 2 for me...
i really got into the story whilst playing it, and was expecting some sort of closure (especially since the story seemed to be coming full circle)and then..... a cliffhanger ending wich seemed rushed as hell and made it obvious the question would only be answered in the sequel
i was even more disappointed due to the fact the storyline up to that point had been brilliant (sigh)

It was just the biggest "Ok... This is even more stupid than falling at terminal velocity then actually grappling the ground to slow down" moment ever. I hated it. It was stupidity epitomised.

Metro 2033...a rather lacklustre ending (both of em) considering the intensity/ atmosphere of the game.

bad company 2. bad story 2. the last mission was crap, boring and i thought it's just the beginning of an exciting campaign, and than blopp - the end - meep. the multiplayer mode is awesome, but the campaign is shit.
