Neverwinter Nights 2

Rocks fall, everyone dies. Horrible voice actor gives terrible epilogue narration.

Thank god Mask of the Betrayer made up for it by retconning it and being totally awesome. Seriously, Mask of the Betrayer is by far the best thing about NWN2.

The Longest Journej 2 : The Dreamfall.

It ends in cliffhanger but not your typical "or do they... ?" way.
It cries "next season coming soon" and despite years passing there's no continuation. :|

I'm pretty certain they said there will not be a sequel. Something about the game not doing well enough and piracy issues.

The Jade Empire ending if you choose to surrender; what is the point!? It makes your entire journey pointless!

I just finished watching my friend beat Archam city, which I already thought wasn't as good as the first, but great none the less.

You beat clayface, who turns out was the "healthy" Joker all along. Descently clever twist, but after the battle, Batman stops the Joker from immortality by throwing a sword into a machine (long story). An explosion happened, and the Joker taunted Batman that he would still give him the cure Batman had drank half of. He than stabbed Batman in the ARM THAT WAS HOLDING THE CURE, and Batman dropped it. They exchanged two lines, and the Joker just died in the position a Joker would be on most playing cards.

Batman carries the body out from the jail, ignoring all questions, and just dumps the body on a police car. That was it.

That is how they ended the longest running Joker, Mark Hamill's masterful clown that had been playing since Batman: TAS. Could they not find some BETTER way to end him? It wasn't that they totally ran out of money for one last boss fight or more content since they HAD AN EPILOGUE.

What end's ruined the whole game for you?
everything went black for a moment so there is a chance that clayface could have pulled himself back together and made the joker look dead so he could make his escape. it's plausible and gives me hope that the joker didnt really die. he's my favorite villain of all time

You can find a lot of people complaining about the ending to Eternal Sonata. Although the game has some strong points, like it's excellent soundtrack, it really fell apart at the end. I tried to make sense of it all and kind of went from "this is deep, complicated and really emotional" to "o.k, lost now."

I can only stick up for the ending by saying because the entire setting of the game is a dream, it makes some sense that the entire thing would just disintegrate into a random mess. So yeah, it makes sense because it doesn't.

Well, isn't that what "they" said about Duke Nukem Forever ? ;)

The Baldurs gate 2 ending. I mean without the expansion. Luckilly I had Throne Of Bhaal or I'd have beeen quite pissed off with that. Also dragon Age 2. What a cock slap to the face, no closure, no real info on what's happened to your character or the world. AC: Revelations is one of the worst as well, they may as well have put a blank screen with big text saying "Buy the next one in a year to see what happenes.... No really, we'll reveal wtf is going on"

Broken Hearts. No need for spoilers because you will never play this game. After sequence of very difficult boss fights you get:
1. You are dead.
2. Everyone you ever loved is dead.
3. While you killed the dictator of your homeland for greater good even though he was like father to you, war you were trying to stop the whole time is still going on because he was replaced by even greater asshole.
4. You are trapped between heaven and earth so you aren't really dead so you cannot really die but you can see how much you failed.
5. Hey, at least world isn't destroyed. Well, after seeing this ending I think it should be.

Mass Effect 2.

Fortunately, what saved the giant terminator from ruining the entire game for me was that the game had been ruined long before that by disconnected shooter missions where a teammate is happy after half an hour of cover shooting, not to mentioned glaring plot holes, ass-pulls and flat out inconsistencies in the established lore of the universe.

I still laugh to this at the thought of Shepard waking up on the operating table after being brought back from the dead (no biggie folks, just forget it and keep shooting mooks) and saying "this gun doesnt have any ass pull technology designed to appeal to the shooter fans that Im not yet aware of because Ive been dead for two years ammo-I mean thermal clips".

Yeah, after a combination of all those things, I think a giant terminator and a "this has all been one big waste of time, you are pretty much right back where you ended ME1" didnt really change much.

Deus Ex HR, nothing. No combination of events. No play-style. Prior to the end will change anything whatsoever. A video monologue based on which button you push..... meh.

Indigo Prophecy (aka Fahrenheit)... it basically ruined the whole story and everything started to make less sense than it already did.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Game was quite fun but the hell guys. I'm not gonna talk about it because anyone who played it will know what I mean.

:(

That would be Deus Ex Human Revolution in a nutshell.
I third these guys opinions. The endings sucked. Thats right all of them.

Essentially, all four movies are made of what appears to be film stock footage with Jensen giving a philosophical voiceover that suggests that no matter what happens, bad shit will go down. All of which are done in the styler of tie into game continuity ending.

Mugen said:
....also, Bulletstorm. but that was just an all around bad game :)
Well I thought the game was fun. It felt more like an arcade experience then an interesting story driven piece though. But I have to agree the ending was crap. Purposely done to set up for a sequel that will probably not come into fruitation, and if it does will end up worse than the original.

Drakengard was NOT a great story to begin with, but the endings tanked it and each was worse than the last.

Unless you count the "joke" ending.

Halo 2.

It's practically synonymous with horrible endings.
I second this since I hate cliffhanger endings! I mean they build it up getting you excited what will happen in the next level and then to have the whole "To be continue" screen appear. (All of my rage!)

Metal Gear Solid 4.
You just couldn't give Snake a dignified dead, eh Kojima? I guess the chance of MGS5 and the possibility of fans camping outside your house because "whaaa, whaaa, Snake can't die" were too big a detriment?
Well... F you. You take away what could be a pretty epic closure and change the entire world to a pink, sweet, disney-like version so that they could live happily ever after. In fact, forget that... at least Disney had the balls to kill Mufasa at the beginning of the movie and LEAVE HIM DEAD!
