Red Dead Redemption when...
They kill John Fucking Marston
I do all that to help them, and get double crossed by the bastards...
Left a hole in my heart that made the last mission all the more satisfying.

Skyrim

You walk out of Sovengarde, head held high. What do you get after vanquishing Alduin? Nothing. Not even a thank-you. Really annoyed me.

Borderlands and Deus Ex: HR are two mild offenders. Dues Ex works imo if you look at it as the media driven world that it is and gives you enough closure to be considered an ending and let you imagine what you've actually done. I mean it works just the same for Bastion so I've got no problem at all.

Borderlands was just a bit flat when compared to the build up. Not really a failure ultimately.

PS: My opinion of bad ending might be shaped by the anime I watch so I might be a little lenient (ie: Deathnote, Claymore, Elfen Lied etc).

Just recently, both 2011 games, L.A. Noire and Deus Ex Human Revolution. LA Noire happened a lot more gradually, meaning it started off great and gradually got more shit overtime with climactic shit ending, while DEHR mostly came out of nowhere and just destroyed pretty everything the game was at that point. But both were equally ruined by their endings.

ME2, DA2 (didn't even finish it, read the ending later), Deus Ex: HR (the last boss included), any of the "modern" fps's, Space Pirates and Zombies (great game otherwise though), Arkham City (they just ran out of time and decided to kill everybody), NwN1 AND 2 (both had abysmal endings), advent rising, any of the Heroes of Might and Magic games past 3 (so, 4,5,6).

Rage - There was no boss fight. The end seemed random even though it kind of made sense. I was really disappointed, but I lived. The rest of the game is really good.

Mass Effect 2 - Seriously?.. Giant Terminator who's really easy.

Fable 2 - I didn't even get to kill the last person. I didn't even want to touch the game after that.

Must say Final fantasy 9 is one of those games.

Not really the ending as such, but the Last Boss. It made no sense to the story and fealt tacked on...

Halo 2, NWN2 and Kotor 2's endings didn't almost ruin the game for me. They did ruin the game for me.

It didn't ruin the game, but the KOTOR 2 ending is literally the camera panning out. Major wtf moment.

There are one too many in my list but this:

Metal Gear Solid 4.
You just couldn't give Snake a dignified dead, eh Kojima? I guess the chance of MGS5 and the possibility of fans camping outside your house because "whaaa, whaaa, Snake can't die" were too big a detriment?
Well... F you. You take away what could be a pretty epic closure and change the entire world to a pink, sweet, disney-like version so that they could live happily ever after. In fact, forget that... at least Disney had the balls to kill Mufasa at the beginning of the movie and LEAVE HIM DEAD!
that's basically gold there.
Don't get me wrong, I loved Snake but come on >>

Nah, I'm kidding, I didn't even beat it. It was that bad
The ending is; You finally find the treasure. I think it turns out to be worthless. I forget really. I liked the game. A nice rental. Not worth buying.

Human Revolution's didn't completely ruin the game, but it annoyed the crap out of me and dropped my rating of the game from "A worthy, if only somewhat dumbed down, succesor to the original" to "It's OK, I guess".

BioShock simply had an ending 2 hours to late. Would you kindly end the game at the big, shocking reveal next time? The entire section after it felt stale, both story and gameplay -wise. It was just panning out gameplay, whilst pretty much ruining the game, at least for me.

EDIT: Forgot another big one. ME2. Excellent game, but I just couldn't accept that the villain's master plan was to build a giant-scale T-800.

Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy had the most ridiculous final quarter of any game I've ever played. So it's a nice adventure game along the lines of the later Broken Sword games; lots of spooky crap happening, possession etc.

<spoiler=Spoiler>Eventually, it becomes evident that there are 2 separate factions messing with you. One is occult-y. That's cool. The other is the internet. I'm not even kidding.
Let's not forget that your main male character

<spoiler=Spoiler>Is dead and has sex with the main female protagonist. In that order. And in the End he gets Superpowers and infiltrates a abandoned military base and save a child that whispers something in his ear to make the snow go away. Or something

Needless to say, thanks to the last third the game turned in my opinion from "kinda neat" to "F***** BULLS**T!!" and made me rage hard against everyone who said he likes it and it has a great story.

The Longest Journey 2 : The Dreamfall.
It ends in cliffhanger but not your typical "or do they... ?" way.
It cries "next season coming soon" and despite years passing there's no continuation. :|
I'm pretty certain they said there will not be a sequel. Something about the game not doing well enough and piracy issues.
Well, isn't that what "they" said about Duke Nukem Forever ? ;)
Oh no, they kept saying DNF was coming out. Even with all the delays. Kinda the reverse of this situation, because it would have been better all around if it didn't...

Pokemon snap. Me and my friend spent 4 hours to beat this game and the end reward was a level where you could only take a picture of mew? I wanted more Pokemon but no they give me a crap course with 1 Pokemon.

That would be Deus Ex Human Revolution in a nutshell.
Yeah, they completely ruined all sense of "your choices matter for the whole game!"

Yet as anyone who has played it through knows the only choice is at the very end, which you pick after the events following your action is explained to you by an all knowing AI that you have absolutely no connection to other than you beat up another version of it to gain information.

As for the Batman ending

While I thought it was foolish for the Joker to attack Batman while he was holding the cure, which Batman would have given to him, as someone said Batman will go to any length to stop people being killed as he believes everyone can be saved, it was still a good ending. Carrying him out that way made sense and I think the second or third poster in this thread has a nice explanation for why Joker did what he did.

I think that's the point. Besides, happy ending =/= good ending. Some of the best endings are the harsh ones.

I just finished watching my friend beat Archam city, which I already thought wasn't as good as the first, but great none the less.

You beat clayface, who turns out was the "healthy" Joker all along. Descently clever twist, but after the battle, Batman stops the Joker from immortality by throwing a sword into a machine (long story). An explosion happened, and the Joker taunted Batman that he would still give him the cure Batman had drank half of. He than stabbed Batman in the ARM THAT WAS HOLDING THE CURE, and Batman dropped it. They exchanged two lines, and the Joker just died in the position a Joker would be on most playing cards.

Batman carries the body out from the jail, ignoring all questions, and just dumps the body on a police car. That was it.

That is how they ended the longest running Joker, Mark Hamill's masterful clown that had been playing since Batman: TAS. Could they not find some BETTER way to end him? It wasn't that they totally ran out of money for one last boss fight or more content since they HAD AN EPILOGUE.

What end's ruined the whole game for you?
I was actually moved by that ending-imagine that! I felt sad because an insane mass-murderer was dead!

Worst ending for me? Far Cry 2 or "Hey player, everything you did in the game was fucking irrelevent and you might as well just have tanned yourself at the beach!"
The whole carrying out he corpse thing meant nothing to me no hate no love it was just another ending to another game what got me though was when the credits started rolling and you hear the jokers final voicemail message my god I actually almost had to choke back a tear I think maybe that was when his death really hit me and what a choice of song I will say no more but if you've finished the game without skipping the credits then you know what I mean
