Fighting games.

I really suck. Because I suck, and also try not to spam/mash/etc.

I suck with HONOR.
Screw honor, winning is all that's important. If you suck you might as well suck without anyone knowing.

3rd person shooters, never have been good, never will
Really? I absolutely rock at them, Ratchet and Clank is my all-time favorite shooting game (Well, shooting platformer, I guess).

Stealth games like Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid. I'm always so worried to move because I'm so paranoid that my cover will be blown.

Love stealth though (as long as it's done well).

Real Time Strategy games. I always turtle expect I don't build anything and focus only on upgrades and am left defenseless. Only game of the genre that I managed to be good at was Sins of a Solar Empire, and I'm not sure that is really a full fledged RTS...

Well, my basic strategy in RTSs is to crush my opponents with overwhelming numbers. Also, I love racing games like Wipeout, but I'm pretty bad at them in practice.

I'm terrible at "Old School" RTS's like WarCraft.

I can do Rome: Total War and the like where I feel that it simulates what I would actually do (and what people actually did) in real life. Spear line out front with infantry staggered just behind and archers behind them to soften-up the enemy lines as they approach. Heavy cavalry to perform a flank or pincer maneuver that breaks their spirits and causes a rout. One or two units (preferably mounted) as a reserve. Simple, classic, effective.

WarCraft? Build units, have the enemy decide to attack with like 5 guys at a time for some reason and try to survive as long as possible. On easy, it's too easy. On hard, it's too hard. It never feels like strategy because there is no emotional element to the units. You can send one man at an army and he'll always listen.

MMORPGs.

Spending my life on a game is fun,but considering I have a life outside my computer,it can be a bit difficult.

Just for the heck of it, here's my Guild Wars Warrior/Monk build:
Lion's Comfort, Barbaric Slash, Gash, Dragon Slash, Enraging Charge, Whirlwind Attack, Radiation Field, Resurrect. Mix with 13 points in Swordsmanship and 16 in Strength, add a good sword and shield, and voilà! You got yourself an adrenaline-driven maniac who charges into every mob he sees and is the bane of any healer you might have in your team.
I have two genres - MMORPGS, and Roguelikes.

I loved Guild Wars so much - countless hours I spent buying and selling, playing the market, adjusting characters...I eventually ended up making a Dervish that would use a form, usually with immunities to stuff like poison and bleeding, get healing over time buff to help with all the pain I would shortly bring upon myself, use three AOE attacks (Holy, Ice, Holy) use a skill to end those three AOE attacks prematurely (gaining HP and MP in the process, while setting the enemy on fire, then the third "end enchantment early" skill would reset all my skills so I could do it all again) all while surrounded. It worked amazingly well against large groups. Problem is...I spend too much time playing the market, and almost no time actually playing the game. Sad.

As for Roguelikes, I love the concept, but I suck so bad - I hoard items like crazy, which means games like Baroque make me stare at my menu for 5 minutes deciding which item to throw away. (And don't get me started on my Fallout 3 hoarding...)

RTS, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

It's too bad that I can't strategize on-the-fly worth a damn.

Rhythm games.

Then again, I call getting through Guitar Hero songs with 71% on expert sucking.

Also, fighting games. The only one I ever succeeded at was Dead or Alive 2.

Do you know the definition of expert?

Hello Escapist's, after watching the Starcraft preview here on our humble site, i got thinking about how much i love the RTS, however it also got me thinking about how much i suck at them as around 90% of the time i play online i get dominated.

So escapsit's, what's a game genre you love to play but aren't very good at.
Oh man, SC2 is THE game I am looking forward to, not to be a fanboy but, holy crap! Starcraft 2!!
There is a point, in that I still kinda suck at it, and 1 out of 1 times I tried online, my butt was torn off.

I'm gonna have to go with RTS's. I suck at them, so much that I rarely play online. I do, however, love to play them with my friends, despite the fact that I've only won maybe once or twice.
