As we all know almost every movie based on a game is terrible. And lately it seems the wrong games are being turned into movies(such as asteroids) And the only good one I seem to know of would be Bioshock or Castlevania. I think that a Movie based on Metroid would be a great idea and would be hard to screw if you did it in the style of the Metroid Prime series.

Any good Game-to-Movie Ideas?

Bioshock could be made into an excellent movie potentially.

To be honest, I think a lot of games could be if they were made by the right people, even Halo has the potential, sadly most people involved seem to completely miss the point when they make the adaptation from game to film (and vice versa usually).

I feel something like MadWorld would make a good film. Surprisingly deep AND laced with vast amounts of violence. It's not so veiled criticisms can translate to movies as well.

Well, Movies off of games are a flawed premise because the point of a game is immersion and interactivity, whereas movies are to have good storytelling and visuals. What makes games so immersive is the interactivity, while movies have you along riding shotgun parallel to the main character(s).

Anyways, a Mechwarrior movie would kick ass.

Team Fortress 2. The makers of those Meet the Team movies are the only people I'd trust with this kind of thing.

Halo movie I might as well say it now (dodges rocks thrown by angry escapees) Sure it's "bland" as a game but the story there is in the world of halo is pretty good it's just bungie is shite at telling it

A half life movie would be cool, maybe from a different view point at Gordon Freeman better be played by a no-name actor so we don't associate....Robert Downey Jr. As being him forever (only an example) and HE BETTER NOT TALK.

Also, Mirror's Edge would be cool if they could avoid cliches

I look at District 9 as a Half Life movie. Sure, the Freeman character isn't a scientist but still ...

I'd like to see a Matt Hazard movie. Matt Hazard's Game Movie!

Mercenaries 2, I think would make a good movie, just not sure how it would work. Also, a Fallout 3 movie involving Liam Neeson as James. The part was made for him, literally.

Gears?

OR

Rainbow Six Vegas?

And if Uwe Boll Goes ANYWHERE near them we shall have him hung drawn & quartered.

it looks a lot like fallout. No Liam Neeson, though.

John Woo actually aquired the rights for a live-action Metroid movie in 2005 and it should have been released in 2006. Unfortunately it was cancelled and then abandoned.
IGN even spread a fake rumour, that Uwe Boll would direct the movie, with Michelle Rodriguez playing Samus. Imagine that... "shiver"

Bioshock, Castlevania and Shadow of the Colossus(!!!) are currently "in developement".

I'd like to see a God of War movie.

I'd like to see a master storyteller translate Planescape: Torment [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planescape_Torment] into a movie. The game's already had it's tome of dialogue condensed into a novelization. [http://www.wischik.com/lu/senses/pst-book.html] The novel follows but one of the many possible endings.

Torment is a work of art and I'd hate to see it get lost in translation to film. If I can't have it done right, I'd rather it simply remain as a cherished game.

Oh yeah, I would definitely pay to watch 1 and a half hours of those things.

The Longest Journey and Dreamfall. It's easy, too. Just take all the non-interactive parts of the game, put them together, and add some scenes in the middle for coherence. Done. The movie would be about 10 hours long, though.

Games are superior to movies. They need to stop deviating so much. Hitman would have been cool...if it stayed true. Doesnt have to be a replica of a specific game, but should feel like part of the series in a different media.
