So I think it's safe to say that the first 6 months of this year is much better than last year's, where the only outstanding game I can think of right now was Mass Effect 3.

What did we get this year so far that are GOTY contenders? Metro: Last Light, Bioshock Infinite, The Last of Us, Tomb Raider...

And what games sort of showed up and then disappeared pretty much immediately? Crysis 3, Dead Space 3, Gears of War: Judgement, God of War: Ascension...

I haven't bought a single game yet that was out this year [small](Don't judge me, money's tight)[/small] but I'm still gong to answer with Metro: Last Light because I loved the first game and it seems to have improved upon everything in it. And my Anti-Game of the Half Year would be Aliens: Colonial Marines. (Duh.)

Easily The Last of Us with Bioshock: Infinite as a runner up.
The Last of Us is just too damn good, incredibly organic survival gameplay coped with the best character interaction I've seen in games.

My game of the year up to this point would probably be Bioshock Infinite.

And I liked Aliens: Colonial Marines. So there.

Im not going to lie but there is nothing that came out this year (that ive played atleast) that i liked, i tried Bioshock Infinite and i got so bored a quite shortly after the halfway mark (which is a shame because i LOVED Bioshock 1) and i havnt played The Last Of Us as i dont have a PS3.

and they only game i brought this year was Aliens Colonial marines and not only did i have trouble getting it to run when it finally did it was terrible

For the half year, I have played quite a few, I loved Metro: Last Light, BioShock: Infinite, Tomb Raider and The Last of Us, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. Honestly at this point out of all those great games I am not sure I could choose just one as game of the year, so I would probably pick all of them.

I still haven't picked up God of War: Ascension, but I intend to, I hope it is as good as the previous games.

Garbage game of the year is the same, Aliens: Colonial Marines, just awful, still stings. Right down there with Duke Nukem: Forever, Gearbox you guys are on a roll, Gearbox = The new LJN.

Best: Metro: Last Light because in this game your decisions matter, unlike in TLOU and BS Infinite.

Worst: Individual users are supposed to talk about the games they've TRIED themselves, right? I'm not easily manipulated, so none. Didn't hook on the faulty pre-order machinations.

Now that I think about it, nearly every game this year has been kind of shitty in a way.
I'm really liking the PC version of Dust, does that count?

I am yet to play The Last of Us, but I loved Bioshock: Infinite and Tomb Raider.

None of this will matter once GTA V is released though. Deep down you all know it.

Well, Fire Emblem: Awakening is the only new game I've bought this year, so I guess it's that. Not that that is in anyway a bad thing, 'cause it's absolutely amazing. Hopefully SMT 4 will be as good. That would make my year.

Probably Metal Gear Rising. The soundtrack escalated it from a pretty cool hack and slasher to the soundtrack of my life for 2 months, so it seems fair.

No effect here, Rock Star has been in a downward spiral for years, no reason to expect anything different this time around.

I actually really hate the GTA games, so that doesn't affect me at all.

Of the games I've tried, Blood Dragon as best with Bioshock Infinite as 2nd and COH2 in 3rd. COH2 would be in 2nd or even 1st if it felt more polished or balanced.

I've seen the Last of us played through and I really liked the story, but I haven't played it so I can't vote for that.

Nah, man SMT 4 will blow everything out of the water. Everything. All of it.

Fire Emblem Awakening is probably my GOTY so far, though. Followed by Metal Gear Rising although I've only been able to play a friend's copy so far :[)

I don't think I've even played any of the major AAA releases this year... well, I played a bit of the Crysis 3 multiplayer beta (it wasn't fun) but nothing else. Money's a bit tight right now. :[ The Last of Us, Metro and Bioshock are in my "to buy" lists, though.

Honestly, the only game from this year I've gotten into so far is BioShock Infinite. All other games either didn't interest me, came out at a bad time, or are on systems I don't have (this year has really had me kicking myself for not getting a PS3). Instead, I've been spending most of my time catching up on games I missed from previous years.

So, so far it seems like BioShock Infinite, though that's hardly in a stable position. I'd imagine once I get around to Tomb Raider and Grand Theft Auto V (when it releases) that will change. I would say I'm sure Tales of Xillia will outdo it too, but again, this is a bad year to only have a 360.

Bioshock Infinite is at the top of my list
And Blood Dragon following close behind.

Both are sitting on the teeter totter of first place really. I love both those games.
And really I think those are the only games I have purchased that have come out this year...I think.
No wait! RE: Revelations and Hitman. Well I haven?t played anything other than the demo of Revelations yet (though I absolutely loved what I played)

And as for Hitman; I liked it more than most Hitman fans but still I wouldn?t say it's a game that had me salivating like Blood Dragon and Bishock.
So it?s looking like, at this point, Revelations is likely going to be my second placer.

As for my ?anti-game of the year? ...I don?t know *shrugs* I can?t afford to buy games that are crap. But I guess I will choose Aliens CM. Even though I wasn?t exactly a victim of the game, it shattered my image of Gearbox forever :-(

Bioshock Infinite and Metal Gear Rising Revengeance.

Shame they're both sequels and not exactly new ideas, but they're executed in ways that engaged me completely.

And MGR is just so wonderfully camp in the way that Platinum games are wont to be.

I enjoyed Tomb raider and Deadly premonition: Directors cut on the PS3 so far this year, and even though it was released in October 2012, Hotline Miami came to my attention this year, and I found it thoroughly addictive and the soundtrack is definitely something to behold, so I am going to give it an honorary mention. On the other hand, while I completed Bioshock: Infinite I wouldn't say it was the best release this year. It really didn't do much for me. I haven't acquired The last of us yet, but I am hoping to do so very soon.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is the one and only game I own that came out in 2013. So uh...that.

Tales of Xillia comes out here soon, though, so that can change. I'm expecting it to be quite amazing.
