Game Series that Need to Die...

Madden. The gameplay is nearly the same year to year with the rosters being the only major changes. They should make a 4 year game with DLC for roster changes. maybe 800-1200 MSP for the DLC? I think that would be a good idea not just for the gamer but it would give developers time to make major changes in the gameplay instead of rushing out a game year after year.

Halo needed to slink away to die sometime when development started for the first game in the series. I know that it claims to have revolutionized the genre, but surely someone else would've thought of the same innovations eventually... And probably would've done a better job. (sigh) I guess the main reason I hate Halo is the fact that despite it making it quite clear that it is a multiplayer game, it keeps on trying to pretend its a single-player game as well with the shitty campaigns with shitty storylines and shitty level design.

Many game series listed here may not necessarily need to die, but maybe lie dormant for a while, then come back with something better. Or Bungie/Infinity Ward need to create new IPs.

Yeah but if the overiding opinion is that it sucks then no one will buy it... the people who buy halo and final fantasy ARE idiots because they are essentially buying HALO X (much better than halo x-1) and Final fantasy X. The same games with one new gimmick and a couple of very generic plot points and a few new areas characters and your done. Slap a new piece of cover art on and sell it to the masses of fans willing to buy whatever crap these people produce as long as it has a picture of master chief/some anime guy.

Essentially what I am trying to say in that massive rant is that the series IS bad. People continue to buy it just because they're fans. Maybe you could credit the fans with a new IP with an interesting story and a deep philosophical meaning behind it. Or maybe we'll just release another FF.

Anyway I would say SSB Brawl, I don't want them to bring a sequal out for that version, sucks compared to the first 2!

Brawl IS the last in the series... That was announced when it was released.

Call of Duty, PLEASE,I am sick of all this over hype on an average game, plus the quality of the community has gone down hill... then straight off a cliff since Call of Duty 2.

People are buying the same first person shooters, people are still playing very similar MMORPGs
Developer sell each other the same engines and they just add new textures on, essentially the same thing as another game in the series

Not all people who buy the series are idiots though, a small percentage are and they are the ones who also make the most noise because they thing their opinion is "Different, New and edgy". I call them dumb because they have good gameplay and if it's not their cup of tea then they shouldn't play it, they will just flamebait

Some people buy Final Fantasy and Halo because they are good games, it's not a question of opinion, the gameplay is good. If you don't like it then maybe the genre isn't for you or you don't like the style but people play it therefore the gameplay is good.

How many indie games have deep philosophical meanings behind them? I've played a fair few and not a single one cam close to the story of any of Final Fantasy games. Granted some indie games are a lot more fun then mainstream games

In short: people buy the games because they are good, not just because they are in the series. The get marketed more because previous games have been successful

You know, I can understand that maybe a game series should die if the game series is not as good as it should be. Heck, I rather have it die then continue to make bad games. I rather see the game get a rejuvenation, but sometimes that is not in the bag.

Halo games. Continue it through anime/movie/TV/books. The game doesn't really tell the story well, and the gameplay has gone from pretty awesome in the first game, to pedestrian in ODST (due to the rest of the industry catching up, not because Bungie screwed anything up).

Pokemon, unless they start capping monster numbers at 200 again.
MGS after Peach Walker. Kojima needs to go do something else.

Tone down the Mario stuff, especially the sports stuff.
