I think the Bioshock thing would have been shocking anywhere gamers gather.
Why? BioShock was, at best, a mediocre game and the sequel looks even worse.

...a lot of people think it's the best thing out there.
If they're console players maybe...

Whoops sorry, apparently I told another user that Gamestop probably wouldn't take back their Xbox games, and assumed it had been you when you mentioned that part of the story.

The GAME I go to is fine. The staff are a pretty jolly bunch, and don't force their opinions on you.

Hah. Last time I went into an EBGames was last Christmas, and because of that, I buy all my games online.

See, I went to buy Gears of War 2, Fallout 3, and COD:WAW for my brother and myself for Christmas. I walk into the store, pick up the games thinking he'd like them (I know I would), and go up to the counter where acne-ridden college kid was manning the shop. As he's looking at them, he looks at me and asks,

"You sure this is what you're looking for?"

"Yes," I said, frowning slightly.

He looks at me a long moment, and says, "For your brother?"

"Yeah, and myself."

"Oh! If you're shopping for yourself, you might want something from over there." He points toward the Wii section.

I glare at him. "Uh, no thanks. I'd rather shoot zombies in the face."

He asks for the money, which I hand over quickly, eager to leave. As he hands me the receipt, I notice something written on the bottom. His phone number.

Needless to say, I tore up the reciept (I had no intention of returning the games anyway) and left it on the counter before leaving the shop for the (second) last time.

In fact, when I bought Mass Effect in Boston, the guy behind the counter asked for my number- which was mildly embarrassing, seeing as how my dad was looking at the shelves nearby.

I hate EBGames.

Never really get tried to be sold anything, which is a shame, I'd love to be able to ask why it's such a good game then whether or not I wanted it stand there and argue.

Did get told a game I was buying AGES ago was crap, which it was. Also talked to a girl who worked there about why I was buying Crash Bandicoot aswell, she wasn't having any of the "it's obviously fine I play this" stances I had so I just made out in an obviously fake way it was for someone else.

I read all of that thinking they were gay, then it happened in another store and I was reconsidering the application I just sent in to my local game shop.

Can everyone quit changing avatars? I get confused! :D

Alright then...the above rant was about the service in my local GAME store.

Yeah, but you can never have enough bones I find. Just so I can always create stuff when I'm bored.

The bloke in my local blockbuster who does the game section is great. I was buying Demigod in there and when I'm paying he says this, "You're not going to the buy Sims 3 are you? I've got to ask every customer but I'm not going to recommend it personally."

He then refused to take my Original Xbox game as they don't take them anymore. Behind me? A whole fucking shelf filled with original Xbox games.
Uh yeah. Guess why they don't take them anymore? Because they never sell and Gamestop loses money when trading them. They have a shelf filled with them because no one is buying them.

The GameStop I go to is good. The guys working there are nice and I have never been pressured into making a pre-order or purchase. Anytime I buy a game or make a pre-order they do, of course ask if I want to put a pre-order on X game, but I think that's just store policy to ask.
I've also not had a problem trading in games without the manuals or cases.
Though it is annoying that they no longer accept original X-box games, I can understand that it's a company policy and it's not the manager/cashier being a colossal douche bag.

I can't say that I've ever really had any similar experiences, but then I haven't bought any games from a brick and mortar shop for quite some time now. I prefer to get my games online. There's more of a selection and the prices are usually better.

Why is it the people working in these stores never seem to grasp that just because they enjoy something it doesn't mean everyone else will enjoy it as well?
my personal theory is that since they work in the shops and are sent games in advance of them being released, they start to consider themselves experts and somewhat above other gamers.

it's just a theory though, and i've never experienced much of this, so i could easily be wrong.

I don't have a Gamestop in England. Just thought I'd let you know.

Should've, would've, could've... I was actually in a rush to get out since my mum was waiting outside and it was snowing damn hard, so I didn't want to start anything. I probably should have, though.

I hear people complaining about GameStop and EBGames all the time, so I must be pretty lucky. The guys that work there are cool and aren't always trying to get me to buy useless crap. I plan on working at a GameStop someday and actually helping people instead of trying to convince people to buy other games that they didn't want in the first place.

Most stores that aren't exclusively game stores here piss me off. One of them kept changing the layout of the gaming section every time I went there, the xbox 360 section is small and filled with crap like jumper, while the playstation section takes up a whole wall. A friend of mine once went there and they thold him that the orange box didn't exist. In another one, the 360 section is like, two rows wide (one of them shared with Wii games).

There's Gamestage, I don't have a lot to complain about them, except once I they said they'd get a game and they'd contact me when they had it at the store and never called.

Only went to Gamestop once, someone bought me a game there I already had. My parent got a couple games for my brother, then for the game I wanted, the clerk 'suggested' I bought the game used. I went to GAME and bought it used cheaper. Also, the new games have stickers written in a foreign language, from a country that tends to translate games, so I'm always afraid the game's not in English or my language.

I usually buy stuff at GAME, sure they try to convince me to buy used games and don't always get stuff on time, but it's not bad at all. Though honestly, taking the games of the boxes pisses me off, for all I know the game could be used, and they tend to leave scratches on the box from cutting the proof of authenticity stickers.

Sorry for the wall of text, this issue tends to get me worked up.

GAME in Huddersfield always make you feel like you've done something horrible every time you go there, and you must show ID even if you look over 16 (thank god I now have my college ID card).

Once in Gamestation I went in on my birthday, and they gave me a free GH Les Paul contorller faceplate, so that was cool.
