I hate the Gamestop we have were I live. I stopped buy anything there at this point. I remember one time and employee asked if I needed help, and I asked "Do you have" some game or other, and the guy thought I was asking him if he personally owned a copy of the game or something.

Most of the employees at the one here are all extreme Xbox fan boys anyway, so I just try not to ever talk to them. Plus, if there is ever a reserve prize for the game, they never give have it when I pick up my game. Sometimes if I ask why I didn't get it, they suddenly have one they just happened to remeber having in the store and give it to me, but I think that's just because like some one on another site said, "Gamestop employees are afraid of confrontation".

I just buy all my games online now since I already buy a bunch of imported games anyway.

Huh...all the EB Games nearby are run by some pretty "chill" guys, as per the parlance of the youth nowadays.

I think the Bioshock thing would have been shocking anywhere gamers gather.
Why? BioShock was, at best, a mediocre game and the sequel looks even worse.

...a lot of people think it's the best thing out there.
If they're console players maybe...
Do all PC FPS games have better stories than console FPS games or something? Because that's the only plausible explanation for the elitist attitude you're spewing here... oh wait, you're probably of the opinion that games are dumbed down for the "console tards", to helpfully quote the Zero Punctuation review you're obviously alluding to, because two thumbsticks and 16 buttons aren't the most effective means to navigate through menus or perform fine manipulation of a cursor.

Yawn. I've done console gaming, I've done PC gaming. The difference is illusory.

On topic, the guys at my local EB are friendly and happy to chat about games, but they mostly do this for the customers - frankly, they get sick of it after doing it all day, every day. I don't see any of them going out of their way to push a game to a disinterested customer. It's a waste of their time and a good salesman knows when to talk away. Be friendly, not pushy.
The one time EB Games' service was so poor they lost a sale from me was when I waited at the counter with game in hand for twenty minutes, while the sales clerk there chatted with a customer - yes, she was making a sale, but I could have been gone in a minute. What really baffles me is why one of the other two clerks didn't see people waiting and do something about it.

that dosen't usually happen at the Gamestation where I buy my stuff. You can chat with the guys there if there arent very many customers and they are a nice lot.
This astonishes me.
Really? I am on a first name basis with the Gamestop guys in my area. I walk in and it's all "hey Squid how's it going" yada yada yada. When it isn't busy we sit and talk for hours.

A true story. The day Fallout 3 was released I was chatting with one of them about it and the phone rings. He answers and after the little speech he hands the phone to me. It is my wife who just got back from the doc callin to tell me we have a bun in the oven. You know you are a hardcore gamer when...

I've never had any trouble with my local Gamestop. They always remember who I am and never ask me if I want to preorder anything because they know that if I want to preorder something, I will. Heck, I met my best friend when he worked at Gamestop. I was talking to him about Xbox Live and stuff and he gave me his Gamertag. We played the online Burnout Paradise demo and became friends. Now I stay overnight at his house at least once a week. But anyway, I can go into my Gamestop and preorder anything I want and I dont get criticized for it. One of the guys in there hates wrestling but didn't say anything about it when I preorder the new 2010 wrestling game. So yeah, my Gamestop is pretty awesome.

The EB I shop at is pretty good. Whenever I pre-order/enquire about a game they give me no bullshit and sometimes converse about the game I'm pre-ordering. Like that one time I bought fallout 3 quite a while ago, and just as idle banter I asked the guy what he thought of it, he then said he loved it and that it was a very worthwhile purchase. He was right of course. But yeah, point is, there's no bs at the EB I shop at.

just one question for ya. which FPS do you prefer for the SNES, DOOM or WOLFENSTEIN?
So because I don't care for FPS games I must be an old fart? granted I'm pushing 30, but personal preference still counts for something.

I prefer to unload massive amounts of MIT-grade technical jargon in these situations, liberally peppered with unbridled vulgarity.

I also like knuckledusting.

Meh, I've stopped going to game stores. I just order the damn things online.

In addition to the OP's complaints, I'm also sick of the damned TV's they have blaring about how the latest Wii Mattel-esque game (e.g. "My Quit Smoking Coach") is an "amazing innovation" and will cure the world of cancer or whatever, with twenty speakers all over the store at max volume, positioned over the wall-racks of games.

I would have told the guy I don't ask for his opinion and turned my back. Being an asshole to a know-it-all usually shuts them up.

First off, English please.

Second, so my choices are one mass market store or... gasp another mass market store.

Look, my problem is I play what I enjoy, I buy what I think I'll enjoy, I don't know anyone who likes to be told "wow that game sucks doesn't matter that you got many enjoyable hours out of it, it still sucks and you're gay", which is what some of the clerks at these stores are basically saying at the same time they are proclaiming "if you don't like the exact same games I do you're an idiot"

its nothin' against you are your personal preferences. im just wondering which one you prefer. i personally thought that WOLFENSTEIN 3D for the SNES was a little crappier than the PC version.

I'm quite interested in how it was crappier. I grew up playing Wolf3d on PC over and over (for a bloody long time) and I've had various versions since but they haven't really differed at all.
