The Zone of the Enders and the Persona series.
Well, I understand Fist of Mars, but what did you like about the stories of ZOE1 and 2? I mean, ZOE2 was very "epic," but I never felt like the writing or plotline of ZOE amounted to much until Fist of Mars.

If you follow it from the start the MGS series has a very good (if a little complicated) storyline.
I second that. I love that story line but really..a LITTLE!?!?! complicated? Its a cluster f of crazy nonsense that keeps me on the edge of my seat.(Untili realize that this cutscene is going to take a bit, so then i scoot back and sit normal for the next 30 min. of the CS)

The LoK storyline was good, but way too f**king convoluted. I had to Wikipedia that shit and i'm still not inteirly certain I have it all.
LOLOL

I actually found it quite easy... the only one I even slightly struggled to fit in was LoK:BO2

took part in a weird part of time and...

ok...

Annoying thing about games that REALLY pisses me off...

wtf is it all about where you.. ok take Blood Omen and Blood Omen 2 as prime examples...

at the end of Blood Omen, you had loads of awesome weapons (I loved the two axes), different armours, different forms (mist, wolf etc) yet at the start of Blood Omen , Kain was as weak as a wet paper bag...

why oh why is it in a game sequel few game designers allow continuity of skills from one game to another?

Tangent I know... some shit pisses Me off though
The faux explaination was that Kain was left in torpor for 200 years, draining his powers. He only survived because he so omgwtf awesome. The Serafan took all his fat lewtz i'm sure- the Serafan lord had the Soul Reaver anyway.

And are you SURE you understood it, or do you only THINK you do? The games take place in scattered linear order, going Blood Omen, Soul Reaver 2, LoK: Defiance, Blood Omen 2, Soul Reaver. The inteir plot of the game is that the evil squidgod thing that lives in the earth (The Elder God) convinced the Vampires into believing he was the almighty benevolent god, and that the other elder race (the Demon..thingys whose name I forget) were evil. He did this so they'de go to war and destroy each other because he DESPISED the vampires for not dieing and feeding his wheel of souls, being a parasite that ATE souls. The Vampires wage war on the 'demons' and imprison them in a hellish dimension, the 'demons' strike back at the vampires making them unliving things that need the blood of the living to survive and making it impossible for them to reproduce except through the Dark Gift (they were pretty much angels prior). Due to this humanity would later turn on them enmasse, and eventually there were no more vampire defenders of the Pillars (The pillars forming the magical seal that held the Unspoken in their demonic realm), until BAWWWW *anyeurisms and DIES*

PS: Never even made it to the startof the first game

I'm going to be the predictable one who says the Half Life series:

Half Life
Opposing Forces
Blue Shift
Half Life 2
Half Life 2: Episode 1
Half Life 2: Episode 2
Portal

Each of these games has created for me not the deepest game story but the one I find most tangible. After playing 4 characters in this world and seeing so much of it I love the series. And the vague hints at the plots.

I want Opposing Forces 2! What ever happened to Corporal Shepherd?
Bring Back Shepherd!

Deus Ex - Granted, the second game wasn't nearly as good but the storyline of it managed to make all the opposing endings of the first one canon and followed them up cleverly.

Project Zero/Fatal Frame - The first two games weren't connected, but the third one managed to bring them both together while introducing a brand new storyline.

Gonna throw Mass Effect in there too. Technically, the second game's not out yet, but the second book followed the first game and introduced new characters and factions that could play a role in it.

My favorite stories with games are Metal Gear Solid and Half-Life. You just can't beat stories like those, in my opinion.

I know it's not original, but they're great games.

I was personally quite fond of the .hack series and all the different characters, and the same with final fantasy X but I didnt really like X-2. A "tales of" game usually has a good bunch of characters in it and a good story line

How come everyone who mentions Half-Life lists always forget Decay? Granted, the PS2 port of Half-Life is best left forgotten, but it's still part of the story.

Xenosaga has my favorite story overall. Only problem is all the terrible gameplay you have to trudge through to get it. My next favorite after that is Valkyria Chronicles. The actual story is incredibly cliche and not that good, however all the elements of the game work together so well with that cliche story that I ended up loving it anyway.
