Gamers and Metal Music

Why do I seem to be the only gamer who doesn't like it at all? I like 60's Rock, fully Alternative Rock (basically Radiohead) and Old School Hip Hop. What's up with most Gamers being metal lovers.

EDIT: I was more questioning the fact that alot of gamers like metal, like 70% on this site would probably say that their chosen Music would be metal, and yet there aren't THAT many metal lovers around, I know about 3... And none of them play games, maybe it's just the Gamers that go on forums like metal.

I don't think you're the only one. I hate, no, loathe metal music therefore I just tend not to listen to it. People have varied taste, some like it some don't and some hate it to a catastrophic level.

I am the latter but I don't judge those who do like it.

The only metal I like is Powerman 5000 but I like to think it's more punk..

Not all of them do, but many do. I have no idea why, but I'm a metalhead before a gamer. If anyone's the other way round, please enlighten me.

I figure it's because so many gamers are young males.

Statisticly then, they're more likely to listen to Hip Hop and RnB and go round stabbing people outside of the games.

I absolutely hate metal (actually this is unfair - I've been shown some metal by my housemates that isn't too bad) - the genre as a whole tends to be one of the only ones I'll go out of my way to avoid.

Well, I like stoner metal like Electric Wizard and Kyuss, but thats so slow and heavy that it isn't great for playing anything.

I consider my gaming and musical tastes separate.

See, mine where once upon a time. Now I have the same amount of music from games as I do actual artists, which makes for a fairly bizarre mix if I shuffle between everything.

Actually, come to think of it, I'm the only one out of my gamer friends that listens to metal.

I don't like screamo metal and such, but I love thrash metal and melodic death metal.

I'm more of a punk rocker though.

I'm actually not all that into metal, notable exception being symphonic-metal such as Nightwish, Epica or Apocalyptica. I think a lot of gamers like metal because it helps them distinguish themselves from society: their hobby is different, and so are their tastes.

I adore Metal but many of my gaming mates like Dance, R n B and love bands like Coldplay and Snow Patrol. They hate it when they come over mine and I play Megadeth or Children of Bodom, maybe they're just not into thrash...
