Do you believe this stereotype is true? Not true? Why?

Would you like to add examples to the contrary?

I for one don't believe it is true. I've seen gamers with good taste in music and bad taste in music. But it is all subjective anyway.

NOTE: Please read the OP and don't just read the title and assume I'm ignorant.

I don't understand how this is a stereotype at all. I know several gamers, and at worst their taste in music is quirky.

As you said, it's all subjective, it all comes down to individual taste, so there is no answer to your question.

It is actually a pretty consistent stereotype on some of the music boards and blogs I frequent.

Yup taste is subjective, but there is a technical level in music that can either be matched or not matched.

Wow you just

/thread

on your own thread. Music is precisely that, subjective. At any rate I've never heard of this stereotype before, as I don't really believe there are that many bands with ties to gaming culture.

I have not once heard of this stereotype until now.
Remember kids: It isn't a stereotype unless it's well-known by the public; until then, it's just a plain old gross-generalization.

It's not true. Every gamer I know likes AC/DC. Can you honestly say it's bad music?

But skilled musicianship does not guarantee good compositions.

Wait this is a stereotype? This is news to me.

So I'm willing to bet that no, this isn't true.

I thought that was just around where I am...huh
And I think MiracleofSound should be MUCH more popular
But as you said, it's all subjective. Someone can really like Justin Bieber. I despise him with every bone in my body. Who's more right?
*expects responses about bieber being bad. I agree. Trying to point out opinions here

Like you said taste is subjective.

But to me, A bad taste in music, isn't what you like or don't like, its how much you like.

I find Metalheads to have a bad taste in music because they for some reason find other types of music to be "inferior" and close off there music pallet. A lack of variety to me, is a the closest you can have to a bad taste in music.

A stereotype is a gross-generalization.

And just because it isn't popular amongst the gaming community/you haven't heard of it before, doesn't mean it is any less of a stereotype.

Thanks for patronizing me though!
