You answered your own question and any other question about music and other tastes. I'm sorry, I'm sure you're sick of the "it's a matter of taste"-type answer I gave you, but in this case, I believe nothing more can be said. Nobody is able to say what terrible music is, except when the person is talking about his/her own tastes.
I have gamer friends and some listen to what I like, some listen to what I hate, but so do other non-gamer people.

I disagree. I have pretty diverse taste in music, and I stay away from the usual pitfalls of screamo and mainstream hip-hop/rap.

Erm, can either of you post links to a board post or blog that illustrates this stereotype? I frequent some music boards and blogs and I've never come across anything like that.
Unfortunately I cannot give you any links (typical eh?), because the most obvious example I know of is the board for the group of people I actually make music with in real life and that is a private board. Unfortunately, despite my defenses for gamers on there, they still consider me the exception to their stereotype, rather than both music and games being unconnected when it comes to taste. I must say in all honesty, on public boards, I've not been able to find much in the way of stereotyping against gamers. Still, the stereotype does exist among music-minded folk, otherwise I wouldn't have to defend myself to them as both a music lover and a gamer ;).
Can you at least give a few more details about it the stereotype then? I'm not questioning the existence of the stereotype so much as I am curious why I've never heard it.

When you say "music-minded folk" are you talking about people who like classical music, jazz, blues, or contemporary indie music fans? Is the stereotype that gamers only listen to metal? Electronica? Pop? Or are they talking about 8-bit "gamer music" with all it's blips and bloops?

Do you believe this stereotype is true? Not true? Why?

Would you like to add examples to the contrary?

I for one don't believe it is true. I've seen gamers with good taste in music and bad taste in music. But it is all subjective anyway.
I file it under "Italians are obsessed with watermelon" and "Irishmen make excellent accountants." That is to say, I file it with all the other fake stereotypes people have pulled out of hats for the sake of argument.

NOTE: Please read the OP and don't just read the title and assume I'm ignorant.
Jesus, what's with all the "Don't just look at the title, read my post before you judge me" crap? I know the whole judging a book my its cover whatnot, but when you're deliberately making the cover inflammatory to attract attention, I don't give a toss what's beneath the cover: I'm going to judge the shit out of you.
Excuse me? I made that note because people have a tendency to jump right into a thread without reading what the thread is about. I guess you haven't been here long enough, but threads with titles like these are made all the time and their contents are almost always different than you would imagine.

I honestly don't care if you judge me, my intentions where not to prevent something so inevitable. But I do find it a bit odd you would judge me for disagreeing with this "stereotype"? Or are you judging me for making a title to attract a little attention to my thread? If so then get used to it buddy, that happens pretty much all the time here...and in life honestly.

Let's say different, like, a stereotypical gamer (In a lot of cases) will be a fan of heavy metal.
I guess it's accurate-ish.
I've YET to meet a gamer that's a fan of Heavy Metal [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_metal_(film)]. Unfortunately.

Here, a song for you.

But seriously I don't like the heavy metal genre an know nobody (IRL) who is a gamer and does.

well it depends on what good music means for u
for instance i like heavy metal and punk and i despise (or something) R&B pop rap etc. and some non-galers will agree with my choice of music

It all comes down to individual taste and peoples understanding of music imo. I for one love Bach and Mozart but am also into heavy metal.

OT: I disagree with this stereotype(even though I've never heard of it before)

And my point was that they wouldn't "jump right into a thread" if said threads threads didn't intentionally have deceptive/inflammatory titles.

You posted "Gamers have terrible taste in music." A more appropriate title, considering the content, would be, "Do gamers have terrible taste in music?" which not only more accurately describes the contents of your post, but also only uses two extra letters and a question mark. Your post, after all, seems to be asking a question. Your title, by contrast, is making a definitive statement.

Here are a few other examples of relatively recent threads I've seen that also named themselves something inflammatory because A) they wanted more traffic or B) they were too stupid to name them properly.

1. Breast Implants For Women Should Be Banned
-This falls under 'B.'

2. Are Bionic Body Parts Wrong?
-Again, 'B.' OP was literally convinced that artificial limbs might lead to cyborg super-crime.

3. Should firearm training be mandatory in schools?
-Probably more A than B. OP thought that highschool kids should be taught about guns in a general sense, just in the same way Driver's Ed teaches them about cars, but never actually puts them behind the wheel. Of course, the 'B' part of that was firearms not being on the same level as cars in terms of usefulness, scarcity, etc.

4. So I just got expelled for smelling a girl's hair
-This had literally nothing to do with the thread. OP was asking about what forum habits annoy people, and didn't get the irony of most posters saying "deceptive thread titles."

5. Bioware Fans Downvoting The Witcher 2 on Metacritic
-A more appropriate title would have been "One person who likes DA2 didn't like The Witcher 2."

6. Could pedophiles be equivical to homosexuals?
-Again, dumbass OP, making the slippery slope argument that since we used to revile homosexuals and currently revile pedophiles, we might be on the road to accepting pedophiles into society.

7. Microsoft Devastates Autistic Child By Labeling Him a Cheater
-Surprisingly, this was an Escapist article. The entire story hinged on Microsoft being both shit at their job and absolutely evil, and that a child would never cheat to get Gamerscore. Turns out OP was wrong on all accounts, and a quasi-retraction was posted later. But I guess this isn't so much a deceptive title as it is lousy journalism.

And the list goes on. Exaggeration, deception, and basic stupidity, all in roughly equal measures.

I guess you missed the part where I said flat-out that you pulled the stereotype out of thin air. It's irrelevant whether or not I agree with your opinion when you made up the issue in the first place.

So in other words, because other people do it, too, you're exempt from being judged for your own actions? Riiiiiiight.

Well, in my experiences, I'd have to disagree. In fact, the gamers I know are the only people I know with a good taste in music. The only reason I am stating that bluntly, is because the other group of people I hang out with, (hair dressers, and club kids) listen primarily to pop. By definition, pop is not good music. It's catchy music showing very little musical talent. I listen to it too, I don't want to put anyone down for listening to it, but it is factually bad music. I, along with my gamer friends all seem to listen to a wide variety of genres, from indie, to ska, to foreign beats, and on, and we can all discuss music quite intricately. I ask any hairdressers about music, and it's just...maddening.
