As a gamer, do you think you could date someone who wasn't one, no matter how ridiculously good looking they are.

Already have, and it didn't really make a difference. I don't care if people I date have different interests to me. In fact, it's one of the things I like about people I date; they introduce me to new things.

Of course, it's always a bonus if someone makes a game reference. Then I'm all like *HEARTEYES*

I married not only a non-gamer, but a game hater. The silver lining? A convert on our hands, gentlemen!

From the start she tried to limit my game-time and outright forbid me from table-top playing. I've been receptive, within bounds, and it's payed off.

Alright, I'll give it a go:

1) I would never be in a relationship, but I'll ignore that.

2) If they WEREN'T a gamer, we'd probably have little else in common, which is a HUGE block.

3) If they WERE a gamer, they would know far more about the medium than me, and embarrass me for being "n00b-ish".

This is a ridiculous question. So you don't share one interest? Big deal. That's like asking a woman if she would date a man who didn't like softball or sewing. (Yes I know I'm stereotyping.)

Well I am a gamer, but it doesn't matter that much if my girlfriend is a gamer or not, she kinda is so yay me!

I am in a relationship with someone who's pretty much a non-gamer. She's in my DnD group, but that's it. And she played some Sonic the Hedgehog when she was younger.

Yes, of course. I don't see that as a factor which affects whether I'll get into a relationship with them or not :S

Video Games don't really take up most of my time, anymore(music does that to you), so I could definitely live without a game-playing Girlfriend.

It would be a pretty nice thing to do on a date, though...

I'm not saying this is my view, I'm asking a question, I'm curious, I apologise if you find it ridiculous.

im a gamer.. have been since i was around 6 and was playing the nes and atari lol.. my husband wasnt a gamer at all.. when we were dating he would play the odd race game but that's about it.. after a few years of gentle teasing about how "lame" halo is and such, he eventually started playing with me and now he's as addicted as i am :)

If you have little interest outside of gaming and aren't particularly good at gaming at all then you're probably young. Just keep living buddy, don't worry so much.

I love the jump to the superficial aspect.

A few mismatched interests here and there aren't worth fussing about. Probably better as well, since it closes gates to potential competition and possible hostility.

Nah. I'm one of the Escapist's few asexual persons. And BTW...

Welcome to the Escapist!

Stay out of the basement. All the cool kids are doing it.

I think i have a good games/life balance, and have never found that games get in the way of relationships. I have only once been accused of wanting to play a game more than i wanted to play with her, and I have been accused of the same thing because I did her laundry as opposed to going strait to bed. I don't particularly enjoy laundry all that much.
