Another great review, and that first picture is hilarious.
I stumbled across it a few weeks ago and just recently asked myself, "Why the hell haven't I used it yet?"

I'm apparently now on Twitter, and if anyone would be so kind as to tell me how to post links on it or just use it in general I could keep people updated on these reviews. Seems my view count has dropped dramatically since changing names, hopefully that changes so I can keep my bullet-hole banner of awesomeness.

As somebody who has, in the past, written articles in the same vein as yours, let me say that I truly commend your efforts with this series. You seem to bring a wealth of experience to every one of your reviews, each one being informative but eminently readable. It's always good to see somebody else clearing up the inconsistencies and discrepancies between computer games and reality.

Hopefully, our purposes won't clash too much. Perhaps we should form some sort of informal treaty where I stay away from your areas of expertise in exchange from you not writing articles on cars or computer things. ;-)

ARMA 2 is a game that has been mentioned in the comments of these reviews, with justification. ARMA 2 itself is a very accurate game, but it really takes mods to bring it up to its full potential. My favourite mod is called ACE 2 (for Advanced Combat Environment), and it adds many of the things which you write about in these reviews. Grenades are portrayed far more accurately than in most series, launchers have been given backblast (and the SMAW that you're familiar with has been given its spotting rifle) and combat optics are usually portrayed with their accurate, useful reticles. Elevation and windage calculations have been added as well.

The only thing it's missing, and I find this to be a slight weakness in the engine, is the missing presence of +1 reloading; as in, no round remains in the chamber after doing a tactical reload. It's a pity, because the rest of the game goes about its business with a lot of simulation-style accuracy and authenticity.

Anyway, keep it up; these are always great to read and really show experience with the weapons in question.
Well you have nothing to fear from me, I don't know crap about cars and my computer knowledge is way outdated.

From everything I've heard and seen of ARMA 2 it sounds like an absolutely amazing game, I remember commenting that even the first aid kits on the Marine's armor was accurate. Now you say my glorious SMAW has a spotting rifle and backblast? I must get myself a decent gaming computer and acquire this game.

I like your writing, OP.

It's informative and it doesn't patronise, which makes it very fun to read.

Well done!

Reading this and the first optics review makes me think that Splinter Cell Conviction has rather realistic scopes...

It has peripheral vision. Is this more realistic or not? Look at the freeze frame and video below. The vid is Spanish, but the preview frame is the sights, basically.

Yes, Sam Fisher has opted for more long-term eye damage from using his fancy glowing headgear all the time instead of just catching some rifle recoil in the face. Definitely more realistic, just looks a bit awkward in 3rd person.

Nah, chances are he is going to procreate somehow... and that is how the movie Idiocracy starts.
