With almost every new release coming out, I feel like games are getting darker and darker. Literally.

Every time I play oblivion, I have to cast a Candle light spell just to see where the fuck Im going. Even with brightness set to its highest level

In COD 5, I was playing the 1st flamethrower level with my bro and I could barley make out the path I had to take.

It feels to me like games are getting wayy to dark, am I the only one?

It could be your television. My tv makes the brightest setting in Oblivion light everything up easily.

I would definitely check this, especially if you can't see in Call of Duty very well. While it's not the world's brightest game, there shouldn't have been many (if any) parts where you had that much trouble seeing.

I've had the same preblem a few times, but I'm too lazy to mess around with brightness settings :p

Then again, developers shouldn't be making things so bloody dark in the first place, I don't care if it's atmospheric or whatever, playability comes first.

Games are, in general, a lot darker than they used to be. But what's even weirder is that they're all dark and brown, but with tons of bloom. But that's just good graphics.

Ick, The House of the Dead: Overkill has a horrendous brightness issue. I can't count the number of chunks of skin I've lost to zombie creeping up in the lower right corner of the screen.

Those who have played know my lament. Whenever your health starts suddenly dropping in the mid-game outdoor levels (or anywhere without decent lighting (90% of the game) ), you instinctively begin madly sweeping your wiimote around waiting for the crosshairs to change color just for the sheer confirmation that there's a zombie there. Lovely.

Do you have an older TV or monitor that isn't HD capable? That could be your problem. Or go get your eyes checked. I have no problem with light aspect... but I also use my 37 inch HD LCD as my monitor as well as my TV too!! hurray!

I thought Oblivion was supposed to be dark. That's why they put in light spells and torches.

The only problem I have with oblivion is how the caves/forts have like no torches or candles in them. I doubt the Muraders stay in a dark coner all god damn day

Yeah I had this problem for a while. Then I bought a new monitor (wanted dual monitors) and forgot that I had set the monitor settings really low for some reason back in the day.

What he said. I haven't had any problems actually seeing anything except in games where lots of crap is supposed to be dark (ie. Riddick games, Doom 3, etc)
