Okami, anyone? Such a good game. Really pretty, too! :D
Also, Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corner's of the Earth (which I thought was fantastic!), Most/All Bullfrog Games (Dungeon Keeper and Populous are freaking epic!) and then, of course, Shadow of the Colossus (Not sure about the 'cult' bit here though). Classics, one and all.

No one in my circle of friends has any idea what the TimeSplitters games are and since im sure most of you are familiar with it ill go with that. (am i going to be shot for saying that?)
My friend, quite possibly. Although I'd rather shoot your friends who haven't a clue what they are. I have rage in that respect.

SWAT4 is the only thing I can recommend that isn't a Visual Novel :p
Recommend me some Visual Novels please!
Well I'm not exactly sure whats unknown and stuff but most VNs seem to have some sort of cult following. I personally enjoyed fate/stay night and Clannad.

Also you can't go wrong with lighting warrior raidy :3

Dune.
Arcanum.
Pong.
Space Invaders.
Mario.
Duck Hunt.
X-Com.
Vampire the masquerade bloodlines.

That's about all I can think of. Some better known than others.

I think Viewtiful Joe amassed quite a cult following when it first came out. Games with the biggest, funnest cult followings tend to be the really bad ones, however, such as Big Rigs or Superman 64.

Hmm a lot were covered already. System Shock, Bio Shock, I know!

I have no mouth and I must scream! Or maybe the Privateer games. =D I think that will work.

Moder Warfare 2 by far one of the most under-rated games of the current gen.....

HA!

In all seriousness go grab a copy of Killer 7, though not completely obscure, it was missed by quite a lot of people. Also If you can find it I still think Total Annihilation never really got the glory it deserved even though it's fantastic!
Damn, was gonna put Modern Warfare 2 amiright?

Easy enough

- System Shock 2
I don't agree with that being called a cult classic. I think it is just a regular classic. It is very mainstream.

Fallout 1+2
Doom (sold well but STILL has a small dedicated community that builds WADs)
Baldur's Gate 1+2
Again, maybe I have the wrong definition of cult classic but I don't think these fit the bill. They were extremely popular and extremely mainstream.

I'll add one of my own though. "Giants: Citizen Kabuto". So rarely spoken of but those hwo have played it loved it.
Mainstream? Did you just call Fallout 1-2 and System Shock 2 mainstream?! How the fuck do you catagorize Halo, Call of Duty and Singstar then?

Maybe mainstream wasn't the right word. But still they're popular enough that people know of them, and have had plenty of commercial success. Especially System Shock 2, it is consistently regarded as one of the best PC games of all time. Halo, CoD, they're commercially and critically successful. Cult classics usually aren't commercially successful, but are critically.

A prime example is Planescape Torment. Game BOMBED financially but anyone in the know (aka the cult) knows that it is a fantastic game.

IDK: S.T.A.L.K.E.R Call of Pripyat - I played the 1st one, but it wasn't that g8, i luv this 1 tough
Jazz Jackrabbit 1&2 - Used to play them when I was little
Penubra - Sends shivers down my spine, played a lil' prank on my cousin a while back when he was 9
Rybka??? - The AI for chess on Win 7 suck, and i mean SUCKS
Clutch - Dricing and zombies, but into one. SweeeeeT!
Knights of Honor - Kinda like Medieval: Total War, but i think it was released before it and also instead of TBS you've got RTS and on Hard the game doesn't pause on battle
World of Goo? A great indie game and a great puzzle game

Brütal Legend. Yeah I said it. I love that game. We actually got given something unique and different and everyone whines because they then treated it like an RTS and completely missed the point.

Oh yes, and Abe's Oddysee, Abe's Exodus, anything by Bullfrog (man I wish I could get Populous: The Beginning or Theme Hospital to work) and Lords of Magic.
