Halo. Admittedly I don't really like shooters much. But I remember when that game and everyone freaked out. I played it and saw nothing all that special.
I'm with you here, but it's sort of like not getting why The Sopranos was a big deal. Or going back and saying Why was the Velvet Underground so popular?

If you don't speak the language of the shooter (And I WAAAAY don't) the things that they did that nobody else was doing just look like so much noise.

OP: Uncharted. I prefer my movies to be movies, thank you very much. The whole thing plays like one long quick time event, except instead of pushing buttons, you murder hundreds of people.

Guitar Hero/Rock Band - all of them.

Playing guitar myself, it's not that I think it belittles playing an instrument, it's just repetitive, and spawned an entire generation of people who got really good at pressing buttons quickly, just like flying in Mario!

Also, and I've said this hundreds of times in hundreds of threads just like this?

I want so badly to like Fable. I played Fable 2 after swearing I wouldn't, and I know I won't be able to keep myself from playing Fable 3 (Ben Kingsley? Simon Pegg? Stephen Effing Fry!?) but I know that I will be let down in a very deep way.

I can't wait to see the changes they made to the farting subgame.

World of Warcraft, pretty much every modern FPS out there with several exceptions, and all RTS. I really don't understand that genre, everything goes so slow and that really takes me out of the experience, plus the game-play is just really boring.

The obvious answer: CoD. Partly because I find the games to be a little buggy in the mulitplayer (which is supposedly the best part of the games), mostly because the people who like it praise it as if it were a god and insult and bash me if I stopped playing it for at least a week.

The not so obvious answer: Dragon Age. For some reason everyonne I know who has played the game loves it, but I just couldn't get into it. Also, since Demons Souls came out at around the same time, I found myself putting more time into that than anything else, but even when I took a break from Demons Souls I still found Dragon Age to be boring.

The semi-obvious answer: Metal Gear Solid 4. I enjoy the series as a whole, and while the story in 4 wasn't bad, the amount of story to gameplay in this one made me feel that they should of made it in to a TV series instead of a game. Everywhere I looked though people seemed to think that the game was godly, while I was barely able to find amusment (of the interactive kind anyway) within it.

Street Fighter
Smash Brothers
Mario Kart

These are the biggest offenders for me for titles people love that I just hate. I'm not a fan of Halo, but have played it at a party and the social aspect can be enjoyable, but these three are just terrible titles that keep getting released.

Obviously they are doing something right because their fans love them, and I respect that, but I just hate the games themselves.

I'm sure people hate Rock Band too though, and that game can't do any wrong in my book lol.

Halo. Do I really need to say more?

That's not always true. In the recently released StarCraft II mathces last an average of about 15 minutes. And it's pretty much non-stop action. The game demands a quickness of pace on your part. At least in multiplayer. In single-player you can take as much time as you want

Halo firstly. I don't get it at all why people are so crazy abuot it and secondly WoW. Really really don't understand why people are so into that either. I'm happy for people to explain the appeal to me but I, personally, don't like them one bit.

Final Fantasies, and I do like RPGs.
Any shooter on a console.
KOTORs.
Starcraft, Warcraft 3, especially DotA. I do like some RTS's, but not these.

Halo. Seems too generic for my liking.
Need for Speed: Underground 2. Just seems like your average urban racer in my opinion.

EDIT:

Sonic CD
How many people have actually played that game?
I have, it wasn't as good as I hoped and had read, but it was better than most of the 2D Sonic's I found.

For one, Shadow of the Colossus. For me, it just felt really empty--and not empty as in "thematically empty," but empty as in a "rushed and uncompleted sort of way." I just don't see the big deal over it.

Another one is Portal. Yes, it's a unique concept. Yes, GLaDOS is funny. But up until the final chamber, the game is just boring. And it only gets mildly better once you have to "escape" the building.
