heart of darkness was awesome

hmm lets see, commander keen I suppose, you can still find it pretty easy but Ive never heard anyone else talk about it
Damn, you stole my answer.

Commander Keen...

Hocus Pocus. Aha! Bet you've never heard of that.
Oddly when looking for a Windows 7 patch for Worms Armageddon at work we came across a site for abandonware which had Hocus Pocus on it. I used to have a big disk with about 30 games on it that had Hocus Pocus too. Commander Keen, on the other hand, is like *the* Dos platofrmer and everyone SHOULD go play it.

Those old cds full of shareware games were great. I had one that had Hocus Pocus on it as well, and it was one of the ones on the disc I played the most. Does anyone else wish the studios would go back to a shareware model? It's gettting to a point where it would even be feasible on consoles, and I can see having large demos available for every game helping to lower piracy numbers. Surely it's a win win?
The only problem with that is that I never, ever, ever paid for (or asked my parents to pay for, rather) a Shareware game :(
I never did either, but it was because the age of shareware was basically over by the time I was 10, because the shareware versions were big enough to keep me entertained for weeks on their own at the time, and because it was before proper digital distribution was really feasible. Considering how many people love Steam, as well as what the target audience of modern games tends to be, almost none of those things would be issues. If nothing else, we should have demos for everything now, instead of just the occasional major release. Preferably, these demos should last at least 45 minutes to an hour, instead of the 20-30 minutes we get now. Remember how long the first episode of Doom was?

i also played another PC game when i was a kid, it was one about you being a child suffering from nightmares, and this ghost (i think it was a ghost) kid befriends you and helps you overcome your fear of this nightmare. stupid thing was, it made you draw your own "nightmare" so mine was always a tonne of squiggles
Dude, are you talking about Dare to Dream, because that game was the highlight of point and click adventure games for me.
the name sounds like it fits, and it was definatly a point and click adventure, so yes, i am pretty sure you're right :D

How about Chiller the arcade shooter? They should bring that to the Wii.

Even if you remember that, you probably don't remember Utopia for Intellivision. It's what inspired Sim City, and it was a competitive 2p game.
Yea I'm old.

Anyone else ever heard of 'Alter Echo'? It was an action-adventure game that my friend showed my on his old Xbox a few years back, I subseuently got it for PS2. Feel quite bad now for selling it, since it was a great game. You play a guy called Nevin, who basically goes on this mission to kill a crazy psychic guy called Paavo and his two sadistic minions with the help of an old grumpy gun-wielding guy, a sassy sexy woman who's great with a sword, and some weird shape-shifting suit that allows you to switch between gun, sword and stealth forms. You needed to use different forms to kill different enemies and solve different puzzles through the game. Good game, but no-one seems to have heard of it save me and my friend who first showed it me...
I actually remember my friend showing me that on his Xbox too!!!

Also I would say Uniracers on the SNES

Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon.

I don't think I've ever heard anybody mention it on any forums, I can't think why, it was a great game.

Used to have lego rock raiders. That game was really hard, and now i think back, stupidly boring.
The jurassic park tekken esque thing. I cant remember the name, but FFFFFFFFFF it was cool.

Also i bet not many have played. And i cant remember the name (sadly). Was by far the scariest game i ever played. You went around a hunted village where everyone was dead with nothing but a camera, that game was horrible. Sometimes you could hear something and put the camera up and there was a ghost in your face. áááááá memories :D
