I think the fact that every single one of Mass Effect's achievements equaled in-game rewards make them very worth them to pursue. And personally, I'd like to see more games take that approach. Why on earth would I want to collect a bunch of flags in Assassin's Creed? So that I can see my gamerscore go up? It doesn't do anything anyway, I don't really care if I get 700 versus 1000 on that game. But having an adept that also uses sniper rifles can be dead useful when tackling Insanity in ME. Or having regenerative health or higher XP rewards. So yeah, Mass Effect at the moment is the only one I've actually gotten 1050/1050 and is the only one I can justify spending those extra hours for.

Timesplitters 2 there's a lot of crap to do.

I'm talking all Characters, all maps, all cheats, all platnium, and all arcade awards.

For a slightly different reason than what everyone here has been referring to, I'm gonna go ahead and say Super Mario Galaxy from this gen. I actually just got the last of all the 120 stars today after getting this game around launch 2007, beating the main storyline, feeling a bit underwhelmed, and not coming back to it until this summer.

SMG is a game in which getting the mandatory 60/120 stars to be able to challenge Bowser and beat the "story" (if it can really be called that) is quite easy - if you're having trouble with a star, you can just leave it and try another one. This drastically reduces the difficulty of the game, and I think could be the reason people think it was too easy. Because once you go for all 120 stars, you realize you can't just skip where you feel like it, and you have to search for hidden stars, and do some of the comet missions. The last 20 or so stars for me were actually quite difficult, and most of them took several tries before I had won.

So in short, I say Super Mario Galaxy because if you're not going for all 120 stars, you're not really getting the full experience of the game.

The ability to start the game over again as Luigi? That doesn't really count as getting the full 100% to me, you're just playing the game again with a new avatar.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Granted, I played it on the Wii (curse families with crappy consoles) but the two different endings are awesome.

I'm ready to be flamed for this, but considering I got it for $25, i'm really quite enjoying sonice unleashed, and I plan to get all the medals, time trials, etc.
That being said, while it's much more polished than the precious outing 06, the framerate issues still linger and playing as the wer-hog get's a tad tedious and tiring.
Some games that are worth finishing 100%?
I think MGS4 is quite an experience, trying not to kill anyone, or, be spotted once. LittleBIGPlanet is just a fun game, and if you are good enough, that's fairly easy to finish 100%, Soul Calibur IV (i liked it), Bioshock (both run throughs good and evil), Resistance 2, Valkyrie profile (getting the A ending, can be tough, but worth it), Gurumin (another really fun psp game), Shadow of Chernobyl (the good ending has the best plot). That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Despite what people say, steer clear of Oblivion.

TMNT Reshelled is worth achievement whoring. Halo 3 is too but a lot of the achievements really do depend on skill so it keeps encouraging you to do better.

Cave Story. If you don't get 100% in that game, you're really missing out on the backstory.
That's like Braid. I you don't get that star in world 3 (before solving the puzzle) you're screwed and can't get the real plot of the game.

Spyro the Dragon had a badass secret level where you could fly nonstop whenever you wanted and had to collect a bunch of treasure, which you unlocked after completing the game 100%. Spyro 3 had a similar "real" last level, and the second game, when completed 100%, gives you fireball flame breath to use wherever.

The Ratchet and Clank series is great if you want to %100, because you have to play through the game twice to unlock the awesome weapons (most of the time). In the latest Ratchet and Clank, you could only get the Ryno gun, and all of the omega upgrades for all the other weapons if you started another playthrough. And then getting skill points gets you stuff like trailers, concept art, wrench replacements, among others.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was not a game that was worth beating a second time just to see another 5 minute ending. I'm not sure how the Wii version was, but once I played through the game once (and unlocked everything the first time, besides the evil costume and evil ending) I didn't need to play the whole game again. The game was fun to play a first time, but once you play the same levels over, with no variety, it loses it being fun.

Those were some very awesome bonuses.

Well, Fallout 1, 2, 3, Oblivion and, of course, Morrowind.

There's just so much to do, and so much to see in those games.
