Tomb raider is basically indiana jones with boobs
And Nathan Drake is basically Lara Croft without the boobs (and way better).

So wait. If Indiana Jones + Boobs = Lara Croft and Lara Croft - Boobs = Nathan Drake, then Indiana Jones = Nathan Drake, right?
Yeah, correct me if im wrong but uncharted is more a tomb raider rip off than indiana jones right?(pardon my english)sorry double post

Halo is an obvious rip-off of Starship Troopers (the book more than the movie, but still some of both.)
How so? I know little of Halo's lore, but just about all of Starship Troopers.
Well, let's see, gung-ho space marines wearing half a truck's worth of powered armor and carrying enough firepower to level a small city each are dropped from orbit in metal coffins to fight an inscrutable and genocidal race of ugly aliens. Does this scene sound in any way familiar? The only way it could have been more obvious is if Sgt Johnson had used the "you wanna live forever" line.
Actually, I think he did spout that very line.

Another game would be the Grand Theft Auto series, which essentially rips off in one way or another every gangster or mafia movie EVER.

That's kinda what I meant. When the first Uncharted came around, I heard tons of people claiming it was just like Tomb Raider, but with a dude. So I was just saying that by that logic and what you said that Uncharted was basically a Indiana Jones rip-off, too (using transitive property: if a=b and b=c then a=c).

I apologize if I was unclear in what I was saying.

Funny, which when you pause to think about the fact that Indiana Jones was a "homage" to a number of B movies :)

Edit: Just remembered, didn't the Silent Hill series heavily draw upon themes from "Jacob's Ladder"?

Just about every shooter these days rips off Aliens, but that's common knowledge, and Mafia II ripping of Goodfellas isn't a shock to anyone either.

Dead Rising 2 rips of a bunch of movies:
- F13th part 6 in particular (the charge attack for the pitchfork was used in that film to, only with a spear) and of course the hockey mask.
- Psycho, the chef knife's charge attack.
- The boomstick is of course from Army of Darkness

GTA: Vice City is mostly just Carlito's Way in game form. The lawyer even looks like Sean Penn.

FFXII and Star Wars. I know alot of people claim most Final Fantasy games rip off Star Wars, but this is the only one I wont defend in an argument.

Everything is a rip off of everything else, or at the very least, is inspired by something that came before. There are too many different books, films, games etc for anyone to really say where any of these ideas came from originally, and there are bound to be similarities between different stories, coincidental or not.

The Russian chapter of Call of Duty (the first game) is pretty much a playable version of "Enemy at the Gates". But that's a great movie with amazing atmosphere, so the resemblance is actually pretty cool.

Also, GTA: Vice City and Scarface. But that's very much intended, obvious and fun as well.

Really? I know there's the eponymous Biggs and Wedge that appear in every other game, but I really can't put a finger on any other references...

I've heard that GTA Vice City was very similar to Scarface.
It is, even the mansion that you get in VC is almost exactly the same as the mansion Tony Montana ends up in in Scarface.

Also in one of the missions you can go into a blood soaked bathroom and find a chainsaw which is a rip off of one of the early scenes in Scarface

There are more but thats all i can think of off the top of my head

In fairness, Star Wars is only riffing with generic fantasy stories anyway (with a couple of good inversions where it counts), so there is bound to be a huge overlap. Still agree with you about XII though.

True Crime: Streets of LA

Which movie does it rip off? Line up every Hollywood action flick on a wall, and throw a dart.

The GTA games are more parodies and homage?s than Rip-offs. Vice City is just a mass of 80's references. The mansion is from Scarface, special cops look like they?re from Miami vice, Kaufman Cabs etc etc. Each GTA game is riddled with these and the scarface reference is just the most obvious.

As pointed out by others, there's Uncharted and the Indiana Jones films (the first game even 'borrows' the puzzle sequence in Last Crusade where Jones finds the location of the knight's tomb.).

Also, and I'm surprised no one's mentioned this, but there's also Indigo Prophecy and Heavy Rain. The former rather famously rips off The Matrix in the last 1/2-1/3 of the game, and the latter plays out virtually every cliched moment from Seven and the Saw films without deviation (plus a large number of movies that I'm forgetting to mention).

I'm thinking along the lines of Metal Gear Solid being a rip-off of Escape From New York. That sort of thing.
Really? The only similarities are with the protagonists' looks. After that, Solid Snake has a completely different personality than Snake Plissken. I suppose you could go with the 'one man sent in' plot as being a ripoff if you want to stretch that argument, but even then the scope and point of each is fairly different.

Metroid being inspired by Aliens. Wouldn't say Rip-off though.

There is a nice wiki article about it.
