Games that are critic proof

So the thought crossed mt mind...what games can you think of that are more or less critic proof? Im not trying to turn this into another StarCraft2 thread, it its the most recent game that I can imagine falls into this topic. The point is can you think of any other games that at announcment you knew everybody would wind up buying no matter what reviewers said about it?

I don't think there's anything critic proof doesn't matter what it is someone will have a problem with it and they will voice it

I think you need to go retro. Nobody's about to say that Tetris isn't a great game.

I can't think of any game that is critic proof. Gamers are some of the most critical people on the planet

Didn't someone get fired for giving Kane and Lynch a mediocre review on gamespot or something? I think that makes it critic proof in a way.

Beyond that, I guess it depends on what you mean by critic proof. If you mean beyond criticism then the list is pretty short, but if you mean games that professional critics won't haven't touched, then theres quite a few obscure ones out there.

I don't think any game falls into that category, but some get closer than others.

Everybody winded up buying it after all. Most people hate on it but they bought it.

Any game, anywhere can be criticized. All that is necessary is for someone to stop playing and say, "it's boring." Everyone's a critic, so any criticism is valid.

Sorry...re-reading what I wrote I realized I wasnt being specific enough. I didnt mean that no body wouldnt critisize them. Being a gamer myself I can testify that any game can and will be critisized. I meant it more along the lines of there being games that no matter what the critices say it will sell tons of copies. For example Ive already heard people oppenions about StarCraft2 and they havent even put out reviews for it yet (at least on here anyways)but I know that know matter what anyone says about it Blizzard is going to make millions off this release.

Oh and sorry about any spelling problems...spellings never been my strong suit.

I say Portal because Yahtzee couldn't think of a bad word about it. But I think many people will buy Halo: Reach no matter what reviewers say about it. Also, I love your avatar pic starocean13.

Any call of duty game, and Halo games, any Valve game and in some cases any BioWear game. Actually any Triple A game from a major developer falls into this category really.

Quake 3 when it came out was critic proof. Everyone went for it while Unreal Tournament had to prove itself.

Halo 3 also, and Fallout 3 too.

Most big brand name games (Call of Duty, Halo etc) would still sell millions even if they got bad review scores.

I think the Final Fantasy series is a good example; the most recent one got middling reviews but still sold 6 million so far.

Well even though i haven't even played the game, i have to say MW2 seeing as though it outsold The Dark Night, in one day (right?) and people are still talking about it like a second comeing of christ. Even though people found things to complain about it and BFBC2 is said to be better.

I wish i could say Shadow of the Colossus or Okami but people have forced me and i have found things to complain about but even then there still great games and shouldn't be heavily criticized.
