MW2 multiplayer

what's with the ranking up and unlocking guns before you finally are able to see toe to toe to some 12yo who has unlocked everything the day after launch? You're basically cannon fodder until you unlock the right perks and stuff. At least other online shooters have you start like equals at the start of each match, so the true test of skill can begin.

This thread is enormous flame-bait. I'm biting my (tongue? Fingers...) fingers to stop ranting to the anti-WoW people. Because WoW is the best game evarrrr.

I don't even play anymore, and I'm still a fanboy. Oh my god, what's happened to me?

How much more off-topic can I go?

Hmm. I'm playing Saint's Row 2 at the moment. It's pretty fun. I'm fighting off waves of the Brotherhood on a boat (I'M ON A BOAT) with an RPG. Good stuff.

I've played Grand Theft Auto 4 a bit, but it just seems TOO realistic. The previous few were more cartoony, and Saint's Row 2 feels more like a GTA sequel than GTAIV. Still a good game though.

I also got a new TV for my room (I've been saving up). 32", 100hz, 1080p. AWESOME! I'm right now typing from my bed, with my controller in my hand. I love my life.

But I have to work for 9 hours tomorrow. Ugh. Then I get tuesday off. WOOO!

Oh sweet, my birthdays on Friday! :D

And that's my story.
I'm not anti-WoW, I just personally don't enjoy grinding to get the best armour/weapons, judging by the amount of people playing it, it's a good game, It's just not my cup of tea. Speaking of which I really need a cup of tea...
Oh I know, I wasn't picking. WoW doesn't appeal to everyone, and I understand why. I just got hooked and I loved it. I had a fair few frustrations with the game, and if you don't fall in love with it at the start, you probably won't enjoy it in the future.

Any shooter that takes itself seriously, especially the war ones. As far as I know, this excludes everything but Duke Nukem & Serious Sam. (Though I do have a soft spot for Golden Eye). If you know any funny shooters (for PC) I'm open to suggestions.
Team Fortress 2 is so blatantly obvious I'm don't understand why it's not in your post.
Isn't that an MMO where you have to actually ::shudder:: socialize with other players?
I would say "You must be new here." But you've got over 1300 posts and you've been here since '08. I am baffled.

Edit: Bollocks, double post :(

I dislike most sandbox games, because I play games for the story (as well) and in such games following the story means that you miss more than half of the content. So Fallout 3 and Prototype are games I still haven't finished for said reasons. And I guess they're pretty popular.

I finished Oblivion by sticking to the story (which means I finished it while I was at a relatively low level).

As far as funny FPSs are concerned, I second Team Fortress 2; it is the best you can get. I should know; I have 800 hours in it!

Note to the TC: Maybe Half-Life 2 is generic and I can understand (but not agree) why someone wouldn't find it special. But to me, this game has the best pace of all other games I have ever played. The guys in Valve know when to give you action, when to let you relax, when to make you feel afraid for your life (low health and no med packs around), while there are no enemies around. It's as if they have a mathematical formula or they have cooperated with psychologists. Anyway, to each his own.

Crysis - Never Understood its appeal under the great graphics is a (to me) run of the mill fps
GTA - Never understood why it was so great, I Mean open world is nice but the criminal aspect kinda I dunno just doesn't work for me

WoW. I loved the RTS games, but I consider WoW to be a spinoff rather than an actual game in the series. I'd love to see them put Warcraft 4 out, but that's never going to happen, because Blizzard's pretty much wiping their asses with 100 dollar bills because of WoW.

kingdom hearts 2.
Everyone I talked to about this game loved it. Its trash thrown together with glue and fanboyism.
Its a poor sequel to a very good game.

Final Fantasy VII - I despised it so, so much. I didn't have a problem with the rest of them
I'm willing to bet that's because you heard all the FF fanboys worship the game. In any case, they're a bunch of fanwhores. That game aged terribly. The Final Fantasy game that deserves the most praise would have to be IX, because that's when the series basically went back to basics, and it worked beautifully.

It's only multiplayer, wouldn't say "massively" in the sense MMOs are though.
Don't interact with people, play a spy, no one wants to talk to backstabbing filthy spys anyway.

I will set you on fire though.

Bioshock- I felt it was terrible, just a clunky, poor shooting game.
Cod4 and onwards- the original call of duty and the first sequel were amazingly fun to play, now they just seem to be filled with people grinding achievements. The pace of the (multiplayer) game has also changed, I liked the slower pace of the old games.
GTA4- It just didn't do it for me in general
GTA:San Andreas- I hated the game, everything from the stupid leveling system to the big open terrain to the retarded 'gangsta' (not to be confused with mobster or gangster) rapper setting
Fallout 3- Just another generic grey shooter, I have no interest
Left 4 dead (2)- Terrible game, not at all what I was hoping for. I was lead to believe it was a zombie survival game, it was not. I hated playing the survivors (really, no ion sites or legit headshots in a zombie game!?).

There are probably a lot more, but those are the ones that immediately jump to mind.

Starcraft and Warcraft (RTS).
Their just too hard. Today was the first time I managed to defeat a Computer (Easy) bot in WC3 after following an advice posted in another thread about how hard Starcraft is.

EDIT: I looked at a screenshot and it turned be to be a Computer (Normal) bot. :D

God of War series. I recently bought a PS3 and have GoW 1-2 HD and made myself beat them because I hear how they are great games. It was a difficult task since I didn't enjoy the plot, the button mashing, the camera that fights against you, and the horrid use of Greek Mythology. I think I know why people like these games, but I don't wanna sound like an ass on a high horse, so I will just say these are games I just don't get why these games are 'popular and loved, but that you can't understand why.'
its fun to dismember stuff well that about as much as i understand

The Halo series and the CoD series since... ooh, 3. Why so popular? They're just FPSes. Nothing more, nothing less, in my opinion.

Have you tried realism mode? Headshots do more damage, bodyshots do much less, no halos around players. And play Survival mode.
