Bioshock

Walking through the same corridors and killing the same generic enemies over and over while listening to some random guy or gal talking over an audio log....Whoopy!

Portal and Crysis

Ones a meme-spewer and the other one looks good but has little below the surface

I'm sure all of us have come across atleast ONE game that everyone's raved about, and that you yourself did not find so appealing.. Feel free to list them here, with your reasons. By the way, this isn't a forum created so that you fanboys can defend their favourite games; it wasn't made to be spiteful, so don't make it so.

The games I found to be this way are Half Life 2 and Bioshock. Half Life 2 felt entertaining but not exciting enough, but the revolutionary physics engine was lost on me due to it being played a few years later. Bioshock was also played later, but it still has cutting edge graphics, etc. I just didn't feel the atmosphere as much as I thought I would.. And the fact that dying didn't matter after I first died didn't help.
I shall get the ball rolling, and I'm sure I'll be flamed for these, but rest assured I absolutely hated every single game I'm to list.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Modern Warfare 2 (it's the same game), Mass Effect II, God Of War III (don't even need to play it to know I'll hate it), God of War I and II ( played and hated both), Bayonetta (it's essentially super nanny as a dominatrix) and Prototype (seriously, inFamous was a far more polished game, far more interesting, more variety, epic scale and the story really screwed with your head).
That is all.
I'd say FarCry II, but I'm pretty sure most people hated that, and if not... well I have to wonder why!?

and before you ask YES I DID PLAY THE HORRID THING! so im not just going off what other people have said,i know its sucks first hand. (this is all my opnion.if you dont like do read.)
First of all, I myself loved FF8 and can't understand the opposite of what you said.
You're completely wrong, in fact I'm pretty sure it's more hated than FF X-2 was, so you might want to review your facts.

God of War series. I recently bought a PS3 and have GoW 1-2 HD and made myself beat them because I hear how they are great games. It was a difficult task since I didn't enjoy the plot, the button mashing, the camera that fights against you, and the horrid use of Greek Mythology. I think I know why people like these games, but I don't wanna sound like an ass on a high horse, so I will just say these are games I just don't get why these games are 'popular and loved, but that you can't understand why.'
You're not alone, trust me. I beat them ages ago and they are about as shallow and repetitive as a game can possibly get.
The game practically screams that it's demographic is people who get off on nudity and excessive gore.
The voice acting's not all that great, the plot is just.. ugh... and they butcher Greek mythology, as well as using nudity for "controversy" to sell their games.
It's fucking pathetic really.

I'm starting to hate when people don't seem to understand that

You didnt like the games and you beat them? That's over 15 hours of gameplay. You couldnt find a better way to spend with your time?

OT: No game that I have really hated. Halo 3 wasnt that fun to me, but it was good if you played with friends. I always get tricked into buying the Mass effect games through a series of great trailers and fanboyism. Each one of those games was rather boring to me, and I kinda forced myself through it. I always do play the shit out of those games when I am in the mood for a good story though

Bioshock for me. Brilliant story and some great ideas but the game itslef was actually sooooooooooooo "meh". Also how an average FPS MW2 is so highly regarded. A much better game CoD3 or 4 should give us the right to expect a brilliant near perfect game but MW2 has just ridden the hype train and for some reason a large group of people are unwilling to accept that it is noting more that average.

No, it's not, it's pretty much fact that most FF fans hated VIII. I was one of the rare few that actually loved it.

I can agree with the enemies, but corridors? The environments in bioshock were quite varied.
Also I liked the audio logs, they were responsible for much of the backstory and they were voiced well. They weren't exactly random as they all pertained to the events of what caused Rapture's downfall. My personal complaint would be how utterly imbalanced the plasmids are (most were flat out useless) and how the story was presented. Walk from point A to B, but oh wait something happened go to points L M N O P Q R S before advancing to B. This happened almost EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TIME. Also Moral choice was shitty.

Anyway personally I do not understand why Halo was so popular. Also just about every JRPG ever made is so overhyped by fans its laughable. Even fans themselves bicker about which FF is the worst, which is best, etc.

I like Far Cry 2 because I didn't play it yet :)
Also I like Oblivion, but only heavily modded. Vanilla is really quite annoying and unplayable. I personally thought MW2 was entertaining for 4 hours, but then again so was MW1 and it is, as you say, the same thing.
Also Protoype>infamous because it was on PC. Ps3 exclusives can go DIAF.
Exclusives aren't an issue for me, I have all 3. Also, you should really give inFamous a chance. Far superiour in most ways to Prototype, especially the plot.
Also, my advice is just don't play Far Cry II. If for whatever reason you liked the first, do not play the 2nd one.

Starcraft. I have no idea why a game of such low graphical standards could be an official sport in South Korea.
