I am liking how this thread has remained mature and hasn't resulted in arguments.

Main games for me are

WoW - bought it and played it for two hours, i can tell why people get addicted though even though i though it was a terrible terrible terribly terrible game.

Crysis - Maybe i was expeting too much

Bad Company 2 - It was awesome but i took it back the same day i got it...

Farmville- OMFG farmville

LOST the game - Not sure if its big but what a let down

Dead Space - Just a bit meh

Fable 2 - Wouldn't let me gangbang

Army of two and alone in the dark

Sorry for the long list but i had a lot of games i didnt like

Prototype, just boring. really good to begin with and then became so repetetive. it's all about InFamous.

Mass Effect, it's a shooter in which you don't need to shoot. before you can do anything your partners destroy them all.

Try a higher difficulty level. At the harder levels, you don't get time to shoot. Too busy dying.

Left 4 dead (2)- Terrible game, not at all what I was hoping for. I was lead to believe it was a zombie survival game, it was not. I hated playing the survivors (really, no ion sites or legit headshots in a zombie game!?).
Have you tried realism mode? Headshots do more damage, bodyshots do much less, no halos around players. And play Survival mode.
The whole lack of iron sites and abundance of ammo completely kills the game for me, and among my group of friends even with the survivor friendly mode on the infected nearly always win (we all get rather bored of playing survivors and as such have far more practice as infected). Even the maps annoy me (or rather, the lack of). I know that there's a whole lot of user created content, but there's no shortage of total conversions for half life 2 that make for far better multiplayer zombie survival games. There's really no shortage of things I can criticise in left 4 dead, ultimately it's a game I don't like that is/was well received.

I'd much rather play killingfloor or any one of the other aforementioned various zombie survival games/mods, there are far more that are tailored to my tastes.

Aside from the ones already mentioned, like Halo and MW2...

Any kind of grindfest with a flimsy story...whether it's a MMORPG like World of Warcraft (any MMORPG really) or other, like the Monster Hunter franchise.

In general I am disappointed with the 7th generation for transforming people into total gfx whores preferring presentation over content and multiplayer over singleplayer.

TF2 - tried several times go get into it and found nothing, nothing enjoyable about the experience. It even looks ugly.

No - I'm not trying to troll people, this is how I feel.

CoDs 4-6. I know I've said it a million times, but they're just generic shooters. Mediocre games. Moderately enjoyable for a while, but certainly nothing amazing.

I thought 1 and 2 were good, 3 sucked, but it's not popular.

I'll give you the grindfest part, but WoW does not have a shallow story. Just go to wowwiki and spend a few hours clicking lore links. It is very in depth, and there are hundreds of storylines which all ultimately join in some way.

Call of duty MW2, I know it's been mentioned a bunch of times but I gotta add my voice, all it's got really is pretty graphics. Everything else is more or less typical FPS attributes.

Edit: Oops I accidentally clicked report on one of the above posts, my touchpad went screwy for a second or two. Apologies to any moderators.

Pokemon. I can understand the appeal it can have over kids, but over grown, hardcore gamers? I simply can't understand it.

Starcraft for me. I can see why other people would like it, but I want more tactical options in my RTS games.

Yeah, WoW's story is pretty huge with many arcs and branches. If you skip reading every quest text and never pay any attention you'll still end up seeing some of the lore involved.
There's dozens of novels and tales about heroes and events that it is a bit much.

That said, the lore is really quite absurd at some points and I ended up not caring for most of what they have recently done. Just a personal opinion though, they still seem to put a lot of time and effort into things.

I don't understand why Okami is popular. Yes, the graphical style is amazing, but the gameplay is boring as hell.
