I'm sure all of us have come across atleast ONE game that everyone's raved about, and that you yourself did not find so appealing.. Feel free to list them here, with your reasons. By the way, this isn't a forum created so that you fanboys can defend their favourite games; it wasn't made to be spiteful, so don't make it so.

The games I found to be this way are Half Life 2 and Bioshock. Half Life 2 felt entertaining but not exciting enough, but the revolutionary physics engine was lost on me due to it being played a few years later. Bioshock was also played later, but it still has cutting edge graphics, etc. I just didn't feel the atmosphere as much as I thought I would.. And the fact that dying didn't matter after I first died didn't help.

I agree with you with Half Life 2, I played it late and I felt cheated because I found it meh, I also had no idea what was going on as I didn't play the first one. [*EDIT* That's my fault though]

Also Final Fantasy, I have never understood why those games still sell ..

Hate to say it, but this has been done before, if my memory serves me right....

OT: Quite a few of my friends occasionally play World Of Warcraft, personally, I'm not a fan.

Halo series didn't seem above average to me, still the game has a pretty much a cult status. I don't understand that.

Althought I haven't really played any halo game that much since I don't own a xbox. Just what I have played at friends house. Anyways it didn't feel as good as hype around it was.

But then again I'm more of an PC player and FPS games are enjoyed best on PC in my opinion.

inb4 Modern Warfare 2!

And um.... non, I can always see a reason to love games, even If I don't personally wanna play it.

Actually I will use Modern Warfare 2 here. I loved the game, it was great! But I hated the people who play it!

Peace x

Final Fantasy VII - I despised it so, so much. I didn't have a problem with the rest of them.

God of War - It was cool at first, but then I just got bored of it.

This thread is enormous flame-bait. I'm biting my (tongue? Fingers...) fingers to stop ranting to the anti-WoW people. Because WoW is the best game evarrrr.

I don't even play anymore, and I'm still a fanboy. Oh my god, what's happened to me?

How much more off-topic can I go?

Hmm. I'm playing Saint's Row 2 at the moment. It's pretty fun. I'm fighting off waves of the Brotherhood on a boat (I'M ON A BOAT) with an RPG. Good stuff.

I've played Grand Theft Auto 4 a bit, but it just seems TOO realistic. The previous few were more cartoony, and Saint's Row 2 feels more like a GTA sequel than GTAIV. Still a good game though.

I also got a new TV for my room (I've been saving up). 32", 100hz, 1080p. AWESOME! I'm right now typing from my bed, with my controller in my hand. I love my life.

But I have to work for 9 hours tomorrow. Ugh. Then I get tuesday off. WOOO!

Oh sweet, my birthdays on Friday! :D

And that's my story.

I'm not anti-WoW, I just personally don't enjoy grinding to get the best armour/weapons, judging by the amount of people playing it, it's a good game, It's just not my cup of tea. Speaking of which I really need a cup of tea...

Final Fantasy
Because every game is completely different from the other, so every new game is a new experience.

OT: I can understand the popularity of any game, popular games are popular for various reasons and I can understand said reasons.
So basically I have nothing to contribute...
If we're talking about games which I dislike but everyone else loves (which is what everyone on this thread appears to be doing anyway), then MW2.

Any shooter that takes itself seriously, especially the war ones. As far as I know, this excludes everything but Duke Nukem & Serious Sam. (Though I do have a soft spot for Golden Eye). If you know any funny shooters (for PC) I'm open to suggestions.

I get $5 everytime someone says WoW or Halo. How much do you owe me?

Team Fortress 2 is so blatantly obvious I'm don't understand why it's not in your post.

there are quite a few mods for games which are funny, also, if you didn't say pc, i would have suggested timesplitters....

Grand Theft Auto franchise. They're fun games although I can never get over the fact that i'm playing a criminal.

Super Mario World franchise. Again, they're pretty fun games but I just never liked Mario and Luigi all the much.

Fallout 3. I've only heard positive stuff about it, but when I played it I just thought it was boring (except blowing Megaton up^^).

Isn't that an MMO where you have to actually ::shudder:: socialize with other players?
