Games that are popular on this site that you can't understand why.

For me Modern Warfare 2 is one of those games. Can't see whats so fun about it.

You misunderstand, I mean people on this site like in general. You know the people of this site hate it with a passion. Well maybe hate it too strong of a word...

Shadow of the Colossus and Ico come to mind, they're good but I think they tend to be overhyped by some people. Psychonauts, too. Portal I didn't much care for. I think Baldur's Gate II is far inferior to Planescape: Torment.

I got a bit bored, found the dynamics a bit odd. I don't know. Two player campaign was alright, and online was mediocre. Didn't see what all the hype was about.

It's still popular enough to attract wankers and doesn't cater at all to Aussies.

Old RPGs like baldurs gate and planescape torment. I got bored after an hour or 2 while playing those.

Baldur's Gate and StarCraft. Baldur's Gate was the least fun game I have ever played and StarCraft, well, I've always been more of a Command & Conquer fan. Also, Fallout and Fallout 2. I can watch other people play them, but if I actually attempt to play the games they make me want to shoot myself.

It's not really a case of not understanding why they're popular in those cases though, as I can see why other people enjoy them.

I don't know exactly why, but those games just don't sit right with me. Games are supposed to be fun, right? Those aren't very much fun in my eyes =/

Modern Warfare. Its a shooter, with guns and shooting. Seen that one before.
GTA San Andreas. Mainly because i just want to shoot everybody in that game, starting with the main character, that whole gangsta-attitude makes me sick.

EDIT: oh, I see... No I can't really think of one right now. I just recently bought Deus Ex for my PS2 and I was only able to play the first minute or so. Not that the graphics were that bad, but idk... Maybe I should give it another chance.

I don't think Portal is that good. I found it too easy, too short and mostly not funny. Granted, I did find the ending sequence cool with some funny lines, the song was great and the game has some of the best audio cues I have ever... heard? But ultimately I was quite disappointed with the game.

I'm curious - how close to the game's release did you play it?

Half-Life 2; I've played it, on both console and PC; and have never understood the hype for it - it's boring - does a terrible job of telling a story and offers bland weapons to use to shoot at bland enemies...

Mass Effect 2, horrible story mixed with average combat and decent characterization makes for the best game ever?
