I didn't particularly enjoy Half Life 2, the combat was basic, I'd played way too much GMOD before it, the visuals were okay, but the plot-line was poor and cliched. I also didn't feel the atmosphere that everyone talks about in the Half Life games.
I also didn't enjoy Fallout 3. Visually, it was stunning and the environments were brilliant but everything was the same, you died way too quickly (on EASY mode) and it just wasn't fun for me.
Mass Effect. I just didn't like it, it was just lots of bad dialog with uninteresting characters, and lots of bad combat.
Mind you, that was only the first one. I haven't tried the second, but I have high hopes that it will pull an "Assassins Creed turnaround".

So many people who think they'll get blasted for their opinions, it makes my soul weep. I may love most of the games the people in this thread have said they dislike, but honestly that's their choice. I know some are just kidding, and know they won't get flamed excessively (there's always someone out there who over-reacts when someone dislikes their favorite golden game).
I personally have no games that I dislike to any extent, there are some genres that I avoid in gerneral, but I'm always willing to give games a try, and I've never chocked me not liking a game up to "it's bad", but simply that it wasn't my thing (you'd be surprised how many people I find who like games that everyone in the world thinks is an abomination, such as my friend who actually LIKED Superman 64).

well im glad this is not turning into a massive hate war..its good ppl can be civil about this.
personally fallout 3, all the half lifes, counter strike, and starcraft are all just bleh to me, back in the day when i didn't play too many games i might have enjoyed them..
just a short description
fallout 3- the main story is incredibly weak imo, the side characters are also really weak with little to any good voice acting besides dad, which he makes a completely unnecessary sacrifice.. the side quests aren't too shabby, but that shouldn't be a games saving grace.
half life(s)- i've played through and i understand the story..i just do not get what the appeal is, especially to play them over and over..its not fun, and the story seems weak to me, most of the dialogue is telling me what to do, not telling me anything about hte story or about any of the characters, so i really dont see what is so "deep" and "most amazing game ever" about it like alot of people claim for it to be.
counter strike- a super super basic spaztic point and click shooter...i can play that for free with quake and unreal..which even then those are just time wasters to me
starcraft - not bad, just prefer empire earth/age of empires for my rts's (maybe civ4 if you wanna group that in there even) but it seems almost too basic, and just not that appealing compared to the other games i mentioned.
now i wanna clarify and say that i can SEE why some people would love these games, if that is there kinda 'bag', and im not putting them down in any way, i just hate it when people (especially some people i know) force it upon me and others like the games are the best thing since sliced bread and say im bad for not calling it the greatest evarrr
if someone doesn't agree with my preferences thats fine, but being an elitist and claiming all you like is superior is just..well ignorant and makes me respect you alot less

Wait, so you can't understand why I don't like Mass Effect 2 (despite, you know, pointing out the games many flaws and you agreeing with them), but you don't see why Bioshock is so popular, or Portal? The usual suspects: Fallout 3 and Oblivion, though Fallout is maybe slightly better than the irredeemable piece of shit that Oblivion is.

Might wanna look at the thread title again - if you think the gameplay is good you should understand why it's popular. The thread isn't about games that are popular that you don't like...
