I'm hoping Final Fantasy XIII will, I'm nerdgasming at every little thing, I'm really THAT excited for it.
Tales of Vesperia did for me though and Wind Waker oh and MGS3

The Orange Box. I had never played any other Valve games beside left 4 dead and had no idea how awesome it would be.

The Saboteur.

I know it's buggy with little chance of a patch. Yahtzee verbally raped it. It did so very much wrong but it also did so very much right. Going in I was expecting the worst, having played the PC version of Mercenaries 2, (Which, if you forgot, was a shitty port of the PS2 version.) and so I was quite impressed. Very few other games have gotten as much play time, relative to the release date.

Also, Fallout 3 and Team Fortress 2 for reasons that have been and will continue to be described by various other people.

Spore.

But seriously, Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time(whew thats long). RaC is always good and fun, and this one took the normal gameplay mechanics and made them much cooler.

Mirror's Edge. I only bought it because it was so cheap off of Steam. I had pretty mediocre expectations, and I had a blast playing it despite its flaws. The same way with Mount & Blade.

Company of Heroes, Morrowind, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Operation Flashpoint, Battlefield 1942, and some very specific sim titles.

Modern Warfare 2, I didn't have high expectations so the game made me have a nerdgasm.

Fallout 3

Was drooling over the teasers.

It lived completely up to it's trailer, even for a RTS+FPS game!
I don't remember there being any RTS elements in Fallout 3? Did you mean RPG or am I just being ignorant?

Actually a lot:

Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy VII
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
Mass Effect
Goldeneye: 007
Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
Starfox 64
Starcraft
The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time

there's more I'm sure...basically all my favourite games.

Mass Effect 2. My only real complaint is the planet scanning, and that is such a miniscule part of the game. I was expecting it to be about as fun as ME1, but it was much, much more.
Same. Mass Effect 2 was the only game that has not only managed to entertain me, but also made me play it... the third time... I might play it a fourth time. Also TF2 is awesome.

When you use the VATS system, it uses AP points.

My apologies,I guess that it isn't 1/2 RTS, only 1/10 RTS.

While using V.A.T.S., the otherwise real-time combat is paused. Various actions cost action points, and both the player and enemies can target specific body areas for attacks, inflicting specific injuries.

Bioshock 2~Multiplayer was waaaybetter then expected, loved the story, which I thought would be okay, and just overall, went better then I thought.
~~~~~~~~
Bayonetta~ I thought it might be a bit dull, but it was better then I thought, many extras, and very varied weapons, as well as fun ways to play.
~~~~~~~~
Orange Box~ I originally just got it for portal, which I thought was great, then I started laying TF2 and got into it, now Orange box, which I thought would be average, is now one of my favorite, if not my favorite game.
