I bought my PC for Photoshop, then I threw a GPU at it for games. It is totally worth the expense of a PC for Photoshop.

I upgraded to a GTX 580 for Metro 2033 when I already had a more than adequate HD 4890, the GTX 580 still wouldn't run it a full settings. I'll probably justify buying the new Nvidia 600 series if I buy one by saying I need it for Battlefield 3.

EDIT: OK Gimp is good, great in fact, but let's face it the industry standard is Photoshop and I have at least twelve years invested in it. I won't be changing any time soon.
That's strange, I get a solid 60 frames on Metro 2033 on full settings (dropping to maybe 55 when things get hectic) and that's on a single HD 6870, which is significantly less powerful than the GTX 580.

Though that is on Directx9, on Directx10 it's around 40, and on Directx11 it's about 25 to 30, but I'm not into all that fancy realistic lighting crap, so I just op for Directx9.

OT: MGS4 is what got me to buy a PS3, and I have been happy with my choice ever since.

I was trying for DX11 with everything on Max and Physx. Physx is a massive drain. With a 1080 monitor I was getting about 20 frames, I prefer at least 40+.

I think only the most expensive cards on the market, can do Directx11 with PhysX and still have a smooth 60 frames. it's an incredibly demanding game, and I expect Metro Last Light to be even more so.

i purchased my ps3 because i wanted to play resident evil 5, and i knew god of war 3 would be out soon so i chose a ps3 over a 360. i guess those 2 made my decision to get a next-gen console.
Resident Evil 5 was also on the Xbox 360... I know, because that's what I played it on.

OT: I haven't actually bought a console for a single game, but there are a few games that make me want to. I want to get a Wii for SSBB and Monster Hunter Tri; love both of those franchises, and wish I could enjoy their newest installments.

I wouldn't say I'd buy a system just to play one game. But, one game has on multiple occasions been the "straw that broke the camels back" for me. Most recent case was Gran Turismo 5... I'd decided quite early into the PS3's life to wait until that came out to get a PS3.

Actually I bought my first xbox 360 for Halo 3 and the rest of my current library just filled itself in.

Rock Band was reason enough for me to pick up a non-wii (at the time the game was not announced for the Wii). I choose the PS3 and it's been worth it for that game alone.

SWTOR and possibly Diablo 3 could warrant the purchase of a PC. Gmaes like those have hundreds if not thousands of hours of replay value.

While the above examples may be true for me. I would still consider it a rip-off in the long run had I ever bought a gaming machine and only one game for it. When it comes down to it...I'd need far more than one title to justify the purchase.
