Here's a topic for discussion in light of Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, and the current sequelitis that plagues the gaming industry.
What games do you like deserve sequels that are "true to their nature". ie. This Crisis Core seems to be well received "prequel" for FF VII, which was done years ago. So what games that time has forgotten, or that the developers have determined are "not worth it" should have sequels made for it, even though if done well, they would make for great games in today's environment.
I'll start with a few of my picks:
KOTOR III - With so much outcry for it, and with a disappointing second game, a third KOTOR should have been made, and yet still we wait for it.
Diablo III (NOT World of Diablo) - Even though I think they are working of D3, it would be nice for it to see the light of day being a sequel and not a cash cow.
Freelancer 2 - Oh how Freelancer was fun! And modable! And multiplayer! Just give me better of the same with a new story, and I'd be happy.
Baldur's Gate 3 - Since Neverwinter Nights was a mild disappointment compared to these...
Final Fantasy Tactics 2 - these "Advance" versions don't exist, at least not in the same realm of depth and story as the first...
