Guitar Hero: World Tour was a bit pants from my view. Atleast when I had Rock Band 2 sitting next to it.

Halo 3
Fable 2 wasn't NEARLY as good as most people made it out to be.
Too Human just sucked, what were they doing for the 10 YEARS the game had in development. From PS1 to GC to Xbox to Xbox 360 to piece of absolute shit. (Don't quote me on that timeline, I'm not entirely sure)

Dead Rising.

Sandbox zombie killing was pretty fun, but once that went stale and I actually had to play through the game, I wanted to stab my eyes out. I don't just think it was overhyped and overrated. I think it was, for the most part, awful. I really love zombie scenarios and looked forward to it too. Shame...
Could have been awesome if it had included a free play mode that didn't involve you having to constantly eat to survive and such, if the time limit allowed for more roaming, and if the survivors had better path finding and were more intelligent. But I did like Frank West.

I'm hoping that the new one solves these problems.

Portal(it just wasn't the divine piece of perfection it was said to be)
o_O Blasphemy!

For Myself, I would have to say any game that was hyped this year so far. As far as I can tell nothing good has become of it yet.

Personally all games fall under this category for me
Hell Yeah! Anything that is front page news on a Gaming website is going to end up disappointing you :)

Thats why after playing Bioshock with no information about the plot or anything I was completely satisfied(Taught Me to try and wait for games before reviews)

Wow. No one mentioned Force Unleashed yet? Weird.
Force Unleashed.

There ya go.

I personally still don't understand why they let you do all that damage to the surroundings and then let all the chunks and pieces disappear after 5 seconds. It was such a shame not to see the consequences of your destructive Force power.

Call of Duty: World at War. I'm not saying it was a bad game, but it had the exact same gameplay as cod4 and cod2. It seems every new call of duty game coming out is pretty much the same thing as the last with better graphics and more guns. And half the guns in WaW were just reskinned versions of guns from older call of duty games. Activion needs to learn that adding good graphics and lots of blood doesn't necessarily make a good game.

Mass Effect
FEEL SHAME. Mass Effect was terrific, a masterwork of game design. The amount of work put into every detail is immediately obvious from the moment you turn it on, to its tension-filled finale. If you're upset that it was an RPG instead of a shooter, I'm sorry that was the case. But it was still awesome.

Oh, hey, wait. I think he might have been a troll. Sorry, flew off the handle. Ignoring him now.

Two Worlds (Billed to me as a "Co-op Oblivion"
Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe (And really, the last 5 MK games)
Mirror's Edge
Lair (I know its been said, but it bares mentioning again)
Killzone 2 (There isn't a single customer at my store that stills plays it. They either passed completely, rented and didn't buy, or returned it within a week)

FFXII was pretty dissapointing to me... In too many ways to describe.

Also, Resistance 2. It was good, but not that great... The single player felt more generic that the first one (which is ironic, considering the first one was kind of a WWII shooter).

I think we could say that about all games. They are all made out to be the best thing ever to grace our screens, and somehow people are disappointed when they inevitably aren't.

Deus Ex: Invisible War
KOTOR: The Sith Lords
and CoD: World at War never lived up to their hype.

Killzone. Both of them.

Resistance. Both of them.

Damnit, can't think of another pair of games that didn't deliver what was overpromised.
Hahaha... exactly... I've had so many PS3 friends of mine be like 'You NEED to try this!' and when I do I'm like... 'THIS is your answer to Gears and Halo? Sorry... you FAIL'....

I'm gonna get a kicking for this but Halo 3. HEAR ME OUT!!! I believe it was overhyped by the gaming media and therefore my expectations were raised by this and when I got it I was slightly disappointed by the story and the fact the equipment was hyped as a game changing mechanic. I barely use it. Online is good fun though.
I have to agree.... Halo 3 was a GOOD game... but it was almost impossible to live up to the hype it got. For it to do that it would have to make you have an orgasm with every kill.

Hells highway BoA

1000000 years development for a game that a normal competent game studio could have developed in a year or less.

While I have to wholeheartedly disagree with the Mass Effect and Gears of War haters... I will say that I don't really think Two Worlds or Dead Rising were really hyped to begin with.

Both came from fledgling studios and Dead Rising in particular was an early release for the hardware. I like to think that they were both 'nice tries', and that they could be much improved upon.

I suppose my point is that hype should really be contingent on the studio involved as well... for example, Silicon Knights had an excellent reputation, so Too Human should have been better. But when you get new or underfunded development houses you shouldn't have your expectations raised all that much.
