Final Fantasy 13. I was expecting a run of the mill rpg, not too bad but not too good. Maybe on my lines on mindless, where you just go through and not think of much. What, what works, works. But I digress, the farther i got in to it the more unplayable it became to me. Yes Hope is a whiny little ***** but he almost killed snow (if this is a problem, just tell me and i'll try to add spoiler tags), hope wasn't that big of a problem for me, mainly it was Snows incessant "SERAH, YOUR HERO IS HERE" rambling he did really pissed me off. I had a problem with Sazh for obvious reasons. Vanille, I don't have much to say. Lightning is just a ***** in my eyes. Fang is alright, she has a Marker staff after a-MAKE US WHOLE. Snow, i just wanted to add that he's a meathead. It galled me that he just walked into a crowd, knocked a soldier out, took his gun and went "RUN BEFORE I KILL YOU, I AM A L'CIE", i understand it was to make them disperse but there were better ways.

You know, I'm just going to stop. If I go on it'll probably take a page. I just want to say sorry for all the swearing and stuff, I just really hated playing that game.

L.A. Noire. Cole Phelps is probably one of the most annoying characters I have played in a game. His massive overreactions when "doubting" annoyed me to no end. The game was also a bit repetitive. Search crime scene A. Make connections. Interrogation. Closed case. The side missions were simply driving to different places and playing Red Dead Redemption. That said, the story was pretty good and the world was both stunningly beautiful and accurately portrayed. Still, I don't feel like it lived up to the massive hype.
Not to mention the cutscene horror. Hey, I'm gonna pick up this machinegun! Oh, here's a cutscene. Why am I suddenly holding my pistol again?

Bioshock 2. Nuff Said.
I must agree, I was so excited. It wasn't bad, it was just mediocre.
I really liked Bioshock 2. Even better than the first one, actually. The story wasn't quite as in depth, but it was sure a hell of a lot better than most of the other games that come out and I thought it made up for it with awesome gameplay.

My dissappointing game had to have been World at War. Call of Duty 4 was the first COD game I has ever played and I thought it was awesome. Great story, great gameplay, at the time it was fresh and new. So naturally I was stoked for World at War. What did I get with that? "Go here! Do that! You just got killed by a sniper that was glitched and not visible!" There was no story, the gameplay sucked compared to COD4 and it was just all around a crappy game.
ya the whole no depth in bioshiock 2 is what dissapointed me the most i got to end and was like wait that was it your not even going to attempt a plot twist this time. AND WHY DONT CIRCUS OF VALUE MACHINES DO THAT SEMI CREPPY LAUGH

World of Goo

But let's not be negative. What games pleasantly surprised me?

Vanquish
Little King's Story
Earth Defense Force 2017
Okami? Someone's hard to please. That stands alone as one the phenomenal gems I thoroughly enjoyed that consisted of just...different gameplay. And I think it's one of the absolute best games to utilize motion controls. And Psychonauts, while not my cup of tea, is still a great game through it's unique story/abilities/levels, etc.

Anyway, more on topic.
I usually try to do some research before buying games to prevent this...but I'm a pretty big fan of the Ace Combat series. After 5, which was probably the pinnacle of the games they made, they produced 6...which just seemed...extremely lackluster. I'm really hoping all the radical changes concerning Assault Horizon are for the better.

Every Final Fantasy game after FF8. I just couldn't get into them.
Also, Mirror's Edge. I really wanted to like that game, but it got tedious.

Anything made by Nintendo in the last ten years. Oh, and the new Mount and Blade was a disappointment. The second Bioshock too. And Reach. And a bunch of other games. And Sony for making that fuckfest, Move. And Nintendo for failing and turning into a casual game developer. And Microsoft for creating the mother fucking Kinect.

So to sum it all up, I find life disappointing.

That actually reminds me. Pretty much the same except I loved IX and X...however after that I can do without. XII was...ehhh...and I couldn't take the combat in XIII. And XI is too slow for my MMO tastes.

As a side note, Dragon Age 2 didn't disappoint until second playthrough. Through low expectations or suspension of disbelief or something else, I never did get bothered by the same dungeon being used several times and I remained quite impressed with how my actions were shaping the world around me. I was really disappointed to see my brother get dragged off as a grey warden, I saw how my willing and helping nature put the wrong people in positions of authority, Anders made me an accomplice to the murder of one of the most sensible people in the game...
Then I went back to correct my mistakes in a 2nd playthrough, and only then realized that my choices had almost nothing to do with how events unfolded. My sibling is taken away at the end of act 1 no matter what. The uprising at the end of act 2 happen no matter what and the outcome is the same no matter what, because either way Isabella runs off. Merril will make her dumb mistake whether I encourage it or not. So will Anders. The fights at the end of act 3 are the same no matter whose side you choose (although I was intrigued to see that the templar route revealed some truths that had eluded me on the mage run). Dialogue changed, but the story was scripted and set from the beginning, giving me a big sense of wasting my time.
Well this is disappointing, as I liked the game enough to play nothing else for 3 days straight. I had even considered buying it eventually after I tracked down a copy of Origins with all the DLC tacked on to it (the Awakening edition or something, right?).

:(

Red Dead Redemption: everyone loves it, but it disturbs me how the story is better than the gameplay. At least GTA IV had various vehicles to steal.
Team Fortress 2 and Bit. Trip Runner: one shuts down a few minutes in, and the other freezes my monitor.
And Black Ops, of course.

edit: Also Psychonauts: WHY CAN'T YOU PLAY IT, 360? WHYYYYYY? I HADN'T EVEN GOTTEN MUCH INTO THE ASYLUM! T_T

The Saboteur. I'll admit that it was mostly because I deluded myself into believing that it would be like Mercenaries mixed with Schindler's list. The amazing trailers didn't help that. After I got my hands on it I found that it was average. Not Great, not bad. Average.

Dragon Age 2, I LIKED the original Dragon Age and I kind-of understood the some of the changes they made, but the recycling and the new darkspawn models really broke it for me to name a few.

L.A. Noire and Borderlands

I suppose it's my own fault that I was disappointed. I imagined both of the games to be the greatest ever created by man. Neither of them were bad, they were just... so average. Needless to say they both got sold on Glyde.

...How exactly do those disappoint you? I mean, those all sound like hardware issues. e.g. find the computer problem and you could play TF2 And Trip Runner. And you can buy the PC version of Psychonauts if you're so desperate to play it.

The game that by far disappointed me the most was the fourth Spyro the Dragon game, Enter the Dragonfly. It came out when I was to young to understand that because Insomniac wasn't working on the game it would most likely suck, so I went into it thinking that it would be about as good as the previous three. It was completely awful.
