There are only 2 game series that I can say that I really, truly despise:

- Halo
(The fucking DEFINITION of generic, too-good-for-a-decent-story FPS games)

- World of Warcraft
(Grinding is not my thing, and I know someone who lost his job, girlfriend, and house because of it's evil spell)

EDIT: You know, that's not true. There is one more that I hate, even more than all of the WoW and Halo games combined with Daikatana and Superman 64:

Zenga. Everything by Zenga. If they have their way, the hardcore genre will consist of Bejewled and Peggle. Christ.

HALO for the love of GOD I HATE that game! and then there's all other FPSs except for Metroid (idk why) and COH which my bro plays a lot, and at the moment Dragon Age but only cause the comp. i run it on is Windows 7 and it seems as if Dragon Age and Window 7 are mortal enemies since the game crashes whenever I go to Denerim.

Grand Thefta Auto 4.
Only that, I think.
And Guitar Hero, it's fun once[SUB](If you can find a song you like, which is hard for me after GH2&3)[/SUB], but not after that.

Oh, and FIFA.

Gears of War is terrible to me. The graphics bore me, the combats boring, the story...meh.
The graphics bored you? How do the graphics... Oh, wait, Gears? Yeah, brown and grey are kind of dull. The fact that all of the characters are also brown (Locust) or dressed in grey (COG) doesn't help...

The GTA series, once it went 3D. Actually, even the 2D ones weren't that great, I just have nostalgia goggles. Or I was about 8 when I was playing them, and liked the idea of playing an 18 rated game...
Well, that too. In all actuality, it was... I honestly can't explain it. They were obviously quite good, but the design of the buildings and such wasn't exactly my cup of tea. The bulky characters were extremely detailed, but they just lacked any creativity. I felt that the suits, though well designed, were rather bland. In my opinion, only the guns were truly mind blowing (Unless seen up close). My mind muddles itself with it's own contradictions. They look good... but at the same time they don't.

Also, while on the subject of Grand Theft Auto...

I have often heard people talk about their dislike of the game, for a lot of different reasons. Whether it's the crude humor, the excessive swearing, or even the acclaimed free-roaming gameplay. These are usually creditable and actually fact (Lame aiming system, absurd driving physics both arcade and simulation, sub-par graphics), but it's the spirit of the game that draws most of it's fans in. It seems that for the most part the thrill doesn't come from the mechanics, but from the sense of freedom and often goofy situations.
Some +'s include:
1)Alternating crude, pop culture insulting, light, dark, etc. humor.
2)Absurd missions and mostly likable characters (Even the antagonists you will love to hate).
3)Just an opinion, but they usually have well-written stories. Maybe not always in the dialog department, but the feeling of advancement is there for the most part. In Vice City, you really did feel like you were rising to the top. Every mission brought you closer to personal wealth and respect. *Minor Spoilers* In fact, the opening premise of getting the money back fades into a narrative of revenge and increasing power. *Perhaps Bigger Spoiler* When you finally complete the missions for your slowly obtained business's (Which are just as well played and written as the main game), and arrogantly face off with your previous boss, you feel like the leader. You feel like the boss. You feel like you own the city. Even the final cutscene made you feel, for lack of a more humble yet equal explanation, like a complete and maniacal badass. Not all of them are like this, but Vice City *really* captured the feel.
4)Car chases, when at their finest, give a pure rush of adrenalin. Even after extended play, they still more often than not quicken your pulse. Almost every one is different. Holing up on a building and fending off the encroaching and increasingly dangerous police, while occasionally keeping an eye to a sky in case they receive air cover, is a real treat.
5)It was (for the most part) the original free-roamer. It brought that particular style of game into the main stream, for better or for worse.

I guess I can see why people don't always enjoy it. It's not always good at what it does, and it's often monotonous and repetitive in it's design. When you do enjoy playing it however, it really is an enjoyable time waster.

Which of the games in the series have you played if I may ask?

I didn't much like Red Faction: Guerrilla, but from how I hear it, a lot of people felt that way anyways.

Also, I was never too fond of Oblivion. If you ignore the terrible main quest, it's decent enough, especially because it has a lot of really interesting side quests, and the five main side quests (Mage's Guild, Fighter's Guild, Thieve's Guild, Dark Brotherhood, and The Arena) are actually quite fun, but the terrible main quest, terrible voice acting, weird looking faces, awful combat, and generally uninteresting world really killed it for me.

Um... I played GTA 2 and London way back when... I've also played 3, Vice City, and I think a little of San Andreas.
I think my issue may be with sandbox games in general - bizarrely, total freedom quickly gets boring, but at the same time, doing any missions gets in the way of the random carnage you can inflict upon the city.

Mass Effect. It was just too irritating to me. I mean, the game's already long as it is. Do I really have to reload because my stupid squad mate tried to be a badass instead of letting his armor recharge?

We all have those games. Critically acclaimed, commercially successful, huge fan following. But for some reason you just can't get into them.

For me it's probably the Final Fantasy series. Maybe I should try the others as I've only played XII but it got REALLY boring after 3 hours of playing it. I am already not a fan of RPG's, since they make you dedicate an insane amount of time to them, and there's usually too much dialogue, but this really hit it home for me.

On the other hand, I can't understand why I love the Pokemon games that much. They also involve grinding and they're a regular RPG but I guess the monsters and tactics are much more fascinating to me.

I also don't like the God of War or the Onimusha series. I find it mind-numbing hack and slash that feels like "AWESOME! I RIPPED HIS HEAD OFF" in the first half of the game but get really repetitive by the end.

Also, not a big fan of the Street Fighter series. I've always found that Mortal Kombat or even Tekken is more fun.

Zelda games - Just couldn't get past the fact they look and play like they were designed for 6 year olds.

MGS - Story overkill, I really don't want a game to be a movie

Street Fighter (all fighters of this ilk) Zero appeal to me.

Halo 2 / 3 - Over rated crap, Saddened by how so many people actually bought the hype, Halo 1 was an average fps.

Final Fantasy - Maybe I just don't get Jap culture but the games bore the pants off me, Ive played a few and they all feel recycled.

Prince of Persia series, found nothing to like there.
Dear God man! Not even in the Sands of Time?!

OT: GTA IV.

If I wanted blurry graphics, sluggish controls, really weird physics, a not-very-interesting-or-well-paced-story and bad combat I'd make a game myself, thanks.

I think I'd do alright at the story though.

This is why I'm holding off RDR, it looks really good but I can tell it's just going to be the same pretty much. Reviewers have said so anyway.
