Games do different things for different people. With so many games out there, there must be one or two that has brought out real emotion from you. For me this game was Beyond Good and Evil. It just made me feel a lot of different emotions that, by the end, I was blown away with how well made it was.

So escapists, has a game ever had an emotional impact on you, and if so which one?

Ico and SotC. Pretty much the only games which had a noticeable impact on me.
Both games nearly made me cry in the end and I still get in a melancholic mood whenever I listen to Castle in the Mist or You Were There.

Klonoa: Door to Phantomile.

If you need an explanation, you have to play the game yourself. It is one of, if not THE most abosolutely beautiful, funny, HORRIBLY HEARTRENDING games I have ever played.

Go on, do it. YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

When Elite Beat Agents used "You're the Inspiration". I'm not really a fan of that song, but the way they used it just got to me... The little girl, the dad... Yeah...

Many moments in Fallout 3, but one in particular:

Finding a radio message from a man who was worried about his sick son. I'm not gonna give away any more.

Enslaved had some great moments too, in particular finding Tripp's village.

Unreal Tournament 2004 made me realise a couple of years ago that I wanted to make stuff like this for a living. At least that's the plan.

Oh yeah, how could I forget? ICO's ending was beautiful. Tears were shed, I won't lie.

Dragon Age: Origins.

You know at the end, when you get all the information on what happened throughout the world?

One of them really got to me. I actually grinned like an idiot when I read it:

If the Warden saved Bevin, Kaitlyn's brother in Redcliffe and used his sword and gave it back, he will become a famous adventurer and will tell stories about how as a young lad, he met The Warden, who used his father's blade to save Redcliffe and then passed it back.

Also Bioshock.

I had a genuine expression of shock when I found out that, you know. That thing. The big secret. You know the one.

Yes. I agree.

Also, Majora's Mask, Chrono Trigger (someone always mentions Chrono Trigger in any thread), Chibi Robo.

The 'evil' side of Jade Empire. It bothered me so much I'll never be bad on it again. And this is coming from a major evil KoTor player (I get more money and xp as evil on those games). But the Jade Empire's evil ending was particularly disturbing for me somehow.

I can't be the only one, but Silent Hill 2. I cried at a couple points toward the end, and the game even had a lasting impact on my own relationship with the dark parts of my mind.

I also get a bit teary at the end of Riven.

And...Honestly, I'm the most emotional person in the world, so pretty much every game I've played has gotten some form of emotional response out of me.

only game who's ending can make me cry every single damn time
that and it's also the only game I've played that actually made me care about the characters

My connection with Silent Hill 2 is to the point where pyramid shaped objects make me think about my own repressed emotions... which is a weird way of saying I really like it.

To give a short list...

-Chrono Trigger (his death/return, and also 3000 AD in general)
-FF5 (Galuf vs. Exdeath)
-FF6 (Doma castle, opera house, General Leo, and the floating continent... nuff said)
-Breath of Fire 2 (there's something about the speed with which the death of Rand's mother is staged that gives it weight)
-Fallout (the ending made me sad)
-Fallout 3 (the ending made me rage)
-Bioshock (honestly, one of the closest I've come to crying at a game's ending)

Luigi's Mansion and Majora's Mask are the only two games that ever scared me. (Shut up, I was just a kid)

In before Mother 3.

Planescape: Torment, which made me answer the question: "What can change the nature of a man?" And the ending, which I am not going to spoil.

Dragon Age 2, flawed though it was. The "All That Remains" quest.

The ending to Dragon Age: Origins made me feel... weird. Only way I could describe it was it felt like an out of body experience.
The ending to WaW also made me feel really proud. I'm not Russian but I knew a bit about the Russian side of the war (like the fact that it was a full fledged war in itself) but seeing the Nazi flag chopped down and replaced with the Soviet flag just evoked a feeling of pride in me.
I normally never feel anything when I watch, play or listen to stuff so my list isn't very long. In fact there's only two other things that have made me feel anything that I can remember (Someday Never Comes by CCR and The Green Mile made me feel really sad first time I listened/ watched them).

I think I've repeated this so many times so I shall just quote.

Same as this.

Oh and many moments in MGS3/Peacewalker as well as the first Kingdom Hearts.
Dammit, and Final Fantasy X.
