Games that had multiplayer but shouldn't

I would have to say Freedom Fighters. All the multiplayer games of that I've played have amounted to both players being huge chickens by hiding out in the bunkers and trying to kill each other with assault rifles from half a map away.

It has a multi-tap option that might improve the game, but everyone but me seems to have stopped caring about that game a loooong time ago, and I can't be arsed to buy a multi-tap.

Bioshock 2. It may not be out yet, but it lost all appeal to me when I found out it had a multiplayer(It has co-op[I think] which is good, but online PvP multiplayer isn't).
That seems backwards to me, I feel that if it has anywhere near the type of story that Bioshock had, co-op would break the immersion (though I haven't heard anything about co-op, source?) while PvP multiplayer could seem like it could work. I mean, it is totally out of character for the game, and I understand that, but who cares if it turns out to be fun? Single and multi player are completely seperate experiences, and I probably wouldn't touch the multiplayer until I was done with the story, but afterwards it would just be another way to enjoy the gameplay, because what with all the powers, the gameplay is substantially different from other first person shooters.

arguably Metroid Prime 2. It was pretty generic, and it's a shame they haven't done anything to fix it in Prime Trilogy.

Didn't one of the Metroid games have multiplayer? It seems kind of random for a game like that too have multiplayer. I mean the enemies in the game can survive multiple rockets and armoured transport ship blasts. Sounds very slow paced to me...
Prime 2, split screen, it didn't hurt anyone, relax :)In saying that it's good example for multiplayer ruining a story....

Prime 1, great game, Prime 2, bleh, Prime 3 very good game.

Coincidental perhaps, but perhaps not.

Gears 2 multiplayer is not fun, at all, I'm not the best at it, I'll just get that out there straight off the bat, but it seems to completely screw up everytime you try to either:

A)Try to go around cover or a corner within 2 metres of them, rubber band bonanza.
B)Snipe someones exposed limb while they are behind cover, it just goes straight through.
C)Countless other things you all know what kind of stuff I'm talking about.

Deus Ex MP!

Seriously, that was not meant to be.
So true, so true. That game was so good in single player but so mind-blowingly unbalanced in multi. Start, die. Start, die. Start die. Startdie. Stardie.St-die. Die. Die. Die.
Why? Because you could join part-way through when some bastard had already gotten enough points to go invisible and spawn camp (thus supplying enough bio energy to ensure he stayed invisible indefinitely).

If they'd worked on the balance a bit more it could've been truly epic (especially with people super-running and jumping up walls and over buildings).

Oh god, I'd forgotten about this one entirely.

Call of Juarez - Bound in Blood

Instead of the coop which they should've made, they made a really crappy multiplayer. You can't even talk in it. Literally. You can not message other players. Don't even want to talk about the animations, the map design, or the ridiculous classes.

okay yes I do.
Class 1: two barreled shotgun, six-shooter, five sticks of dynamite.
Class 2: extremely short range pistol with two rounds per clip, three sticks of dynamite.

Two good guns is better than one bad gun.. five sticks of dynamite is also more than three..

decisions.

Two Worlds. What a bloody disaster that was.

"BANDITS!"

"No, that's another player in Team Deathmatch..."

"Nay! Tis' not possible. Mayhap the taint has arrived."

"Verily dude...hold on a second."

*Summons steel golem.*

I'm serious, I can't imagine how bad that must have been.
Imagine? You mean you didn't actually play it?

Nice work. Two Worlds is one of the most fun games I've played with my friends.
I love Two Worlds, don't get me wrong. It's a fun, exciting game, and the dreadful voice acting makes it comical. I tried to go LIVE with it, but there wasn't a single soul in the lobby. I tried again for a week solid, nothing.

World of Warcraft. Just kidding: that doesn't even make any sense. :p

Prey, for sure. The single-player was quite good, but it could have been a lot better if they had focused on it a bit more, and the shooting wasn't really that great in the first place. All it did was add a useless component that may have taken away from the campaign and definitely added some achievements I had no desire of getting. Fail.

It never happened, the servers for Two Worlds MP never worked.

I can be rabid fan-like, yes. I am very much one of the TES series, however I try to not be unreasonable.
Now that's a good series to defend.

Though I'm usually hard pressed to find an anti-Elder Scrolls person. I usually find that more people hate Mass Effect.

never played the last game but the first 2 games you listed have great multi player

I hate oblivion. Morrowwind and Daggerfall were fun, but oblivion was good until I got to mid-high levels and was getting slaughtered by the single lone monsters. This happened with a number of characters until I realized that you had to break the game mechanics to be able to play the game without having the creatures out-scale you.

That kind of failure is criminal in my book
Now hold on. I'm playing as one of the weakest characters in the game (My own personal Assassin, no health, light armor if any, requires sneak bonus to do any real damage) and I've completed Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, Fighter's Guild, and the main quest. I completed the entirety of the main quest (Including the Battle of Kvatch) after I hit level 20. I may die occasionally, but for the most part I hold my own in combat. What game are you playing that you can't take on a single monster at mid-high levels? Try taking on the Blackwood Company all at once, then tell me if that lone monster is really all that difficult.

Ah fair enough. I did it with friends so I didn't have that problem.

Far Cry 2's multiplayer was fairly generic and boring.
I actually liked the multiplayer more than single player. At least some of the time I did. most of the time people chose to play on the tiny maps which seemed to defeat the point of the game to a degree.
